do you think rick carlisle can stop those dunks?:)
 Not with the core group of players we have right now. What I want from him is to continue to preach defense but open up the offense a little bit. Take advantage of Kidd's skills, and emphasize to the rest of the team that they can't just stand still and wait for Dirk to score on every possession! Oh well, at least we no longer have to worry about Shawn Bradley, the undisputed KING of being posturized!

Spurs won...Celtics Won...Umm Wahtever...One of the worst playoffs I have ever watched.

No wonder the ratings are going down year after year. And not to forget the crap ESPN/ABC whose anchor Stuart scott is such an ass the less we say about TNT analysts the better it is. Same Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith BS going on for last 200 years. I dont know how can anyone stand Charles Barkley..The guy may know his Basketball, but he cant speak English.

Somebody please bring back the 'NBA on NBC'. Mercy..

I'd rather watch Chuck and Kenny than any show with Bill Walton on it. Good god I can't remember an analyst who spouts so much utter garbage out of his mouth. I know Stephen A gets a lot of crap for his mannerisms but he does know his ball and has a lot of contacts within just about every organisation in the NBA and with almost all the star players.

And don't get me started with Wilbon and Kornheiser and their scripted ****.

well, i don't think howard and terry stand around waiting for dirk to score, they do take their shots...kidd has been largely ineffective in the avery johnson system, if rick carlisle "opens it up" for him and he goes back to his new jersey style of pushing the ball up the court, wouldn't the mavs more or less go back to the run-and-gun style they had with nellie and nash which got them precisely nowhere? kidd is good at steals, but he is not all that great at the defensive end, nowitzki certainly isn't, in fact none of the main dallas players are great defenders and none of them are getting any younger...

chuck is a lot to take although he does know his basketball, in my opinion kenny is a pretty good analyst...stephen a for all his contacts is just a big mouth which he works like a perpetual motion machine of some weird kind...bill walton is bad, i agree...

the cavs push the series to a game 7 in another d-fest...other than garnett, none of the celtics players are playing well offensively...

the lakers manage to withstand a late charge from utah, kobe gets a couple of extra days' rest for his back...

Celtics through in 7 despite 45 from James. Although, 41 from Pearce wasn't to shabby either.

I'll give you Terry, but Josh this past season did seem to stand around looking entirely clueless on offense. As far as opening up the offense goes, that doesn't necessarily mean Nellie-ball (fast pace offense with no D) does it? I'm sure there can be a balance in between.

sure, there can be a middle ground but when most of your team is average on defense, effectively it could amount to a not-so-fast offense combined with average-at-best defense and that could end up worse than nellie-ball...:)

Well, Hornets are gone now so I've really stopped caring much for the playoffs. Out of the 4 teams left there aren't any real "good guys" or great stories left.

The Pistons and Spurs are same old same old, Celtics traded away half of their roster to get the big 3 together and the Lakers raped the Grizzlies for Pau. I'm sure the NBA would be hoping for the Lakers v Celtics as it would be the highest rated series out of the lot but I'm secretly hoping they get another good old fashioned D-Fest between the Spurs and Pistons.

isn't that statement a tad overboard? they didn't(can't) force the grizzlies to do anything, memphis is trying to sell the franchise and they wanted to unload gasol to reduce their asking price, the lakers were in the right place at the right time making the right sort of bid...the other teams were really irritated of course(popps was livid), but really only because they weren't able to jump in and do it themselves...

yep it could very well be a d-fest between the spurs and the pistons...although the celtics are also very defense-oriented so even if they play against the lakers, it could be a low-scoring series....other than hoping the pistons don't win, i wouldn't mind any of the others winning, they are three of my favourite teams...:)

I've read reports that plenty of other teams offered them close to fair value for Gasol including picks, expirings and young talent. The Bulls particularly were ones who were shafted by the deal as they had been ringing the Grizzlies FO on a weekly basis for months trying to get something done. Really was a ridiculous deal and Memphis has in no way benefited from it like they could have.

but the point is that they didn't want a "fair value deal" right? i don't know whether memphis has benefited from it, haven't heard any updates about their proposed sale...

Fair value doesn't have to mean in terms of straight swapping personnel or salary. They could've gotten good picks and good young players on minute contracts plus expirings (which would've been perfect for a relocating team to build on).

Instead they got absolute dross in Kwame and a talented guard on a roster where they were already stacked with talented young guards. They could've been far better off than what they are now while still achieving the huge salary dump they wanted. Now all they can do is pray that they somehow get the 1st (if Stern somehow goes crazy) and then draft Rose who will at least put bums on seats after his exploits for the Tigers.

Oh and that reminds me draft lottery tonight :) I know plenty of Knicks fans praying that Stern gives them the #1.

You lost your own argument the moment you brought Bulls into the discussion. Bulls are a Cheap team, I mean their owner is really cheap, All Chicago franchise owners are cheap. Not to forget John Paxton or whoever running the Bulls front office also lacks foresight and the risk taking capabilities of other premier franchises like Lakers etc.

Bulls took two full seasons and still couldn't come to a conclusion about Paul Gasol. It just annoyed the hell out of Gasol, he lost interest. They wanted Gasol for free, which was not going to happen. They really wanted to make up for their mistake of dealing the young talent in Chandler and signing a spent force like Wallace by hoping against hope that they would get him cheap.

Bulls did the same with KG, didn't make any respectful offer, just kept hoping that KG will fall in their lap. Did the same with D'antoni for the coach position.

Anyways - atleast they got the 1st pick in the draft lottery and can Draft Michael Beasley as their big man.
