Laffranchi not being there is a joke fullstop IMO. Can we let Prince play for New Zealad please?

Webb is an interesting selection, gives the pack a bit of grunt, when you have a look at a back row of Gallen, Bird and Hoffman there isn't a lot of aggression to take on the Kiwi's pack and with Webb coming off the bench just gives us a little bit more.

Would have thought picking Gallen and Bird would mainly be based on aggression, as there are better backrowers they could have picked.

Country

Brett Stewart, Joel Monaghan, Jamie Lyon, Matt Cooper, Anthony Quinn, Todd Carney, Brett Finch, Brett White, Danny Buderus (capt), Anthony Laffranchi, Nathan Hindmarsh, Andrew Ryan, Craig Fitzgibbon.

Interchange: Ben Cross, Chris Heighington, Brett Kearney, Glenn Stewart.

City

Brett Hodgson, Jarryd Hayne, Ben Pomeroy, Brett Delaney, Luke Rooney, Braith Anasta, Mitchell Pearce, Jason King, Corey Hughes, Mark O'Meley, Luke Lewis, Mark Minichiello, John Sutton.

Interchange: Bryce Gibbs, Ray Cashmere, Feleti Mateo, Peter Wallace.

No Lawrence. :(

Country look a class above. That City backrow looks quite poor, Luke Lewis FFS. Good to see Carney and Pearce get a crack at rep football. Anasta should be at lock and Wallace starting though.

Like the test side and if both City and Country actually play all the players announced it may be worth watching.

Doesn't feel like an Australian team, with Gallen and Bird in the backrow.

Webb shouldn't be there either.

Much as it hurts me to say it, I can live with Hindmarsh not being picked on form, though of course that standard is never applied with any consistency.

Carl Webb is a great aggressive player, when he's not giving away 4 stupid penalties a game or getting hurt. Laffranchi I thought would get the gig, ahead of Gallen - I mean, if Hindmarsh is dropped on form, what's Gallen done owing to his suspension?

Can live with Greg Bird there as cover at 5/8 should Lockyer's knee give in.

Petro won't let anyone down, but he's hardly been explosive. Kite the biggest myth in the NRL save for Ryles.

It's a great back line - one of the best in the past 15 - 20 years IMO.

Good to see Carney get a run for country too.

Now Souths have been fined $70K for breaching the cap, and 5 of their players have been dropped for failing an in-house breath test.

The hits just keep on coming!!!

Is Inu fit to play for New Zealand? Can't think of the side especially that Vatuvei is out injured. OT but doing some reading on wiki and apparently Ben Roberts is related to Tim Cahill.

Bought Joey Johns's autobiog on Saturday. It's a really top read so far. It's actually very insightful, as distinct from so many autobiogs, which are just churned out and only offer an account of games played etc. His account really gives you an idea of just how mentally strong he was as he battled away with quite a debilitating illness.

He really is a role model for all young people out there battling mental illness. Every day of his career he got up, faced the music/pressure, smiled and walked around. Andrew Johns is a survivor and, above all else, he is a winner.

Big fan of Hindmarsh, disapointed not to see him in there, and you make very good points.
