I'm bored so I'm going to make a poll. Who is the best? Players listed in order of averages below and of course, they're on the poll. Feel free to bitch and yell if I've forgotten anybody, only provided they're any good.

Ryan Sidebottom: 26.60
James Franklin: 28.19
Chaminda Vaas: 29.09
Mitchell Johnson: 32.12
Irfan Pathan: 32.26
Zaheer Khan: 33.60
Pedro Collins: 34.63

I vote Vaas, as he's been the best over a decent time followed by Sidebottom then Franklin.

Vaas by mile, the rest have done nothing over a long period. Even though Bracken doesn't play Tests. I would have him at 2nd overall as well.

Vaas over career, but these threads usually mean "at htis point in time" in which case it's got to be Sidebottom.

I voted for Franlin but really it's Vaas, followed by Sidebottom ver. 2 then the group of Johnson, Khan ver. 2, Franklin and Pathan trailing. RP Singh outclassed here.

If you had to go on careers, Vaas is the winner.

Currently in tests it's Sidebottom.

In ODI's it's Bracken.

James Franklin with the most potential IMO.

So you would have Nathan Bracken who is a rubbish test seamer who doesn't play tests over left armers with good records based on outstanding ODI performances? Your loss.

zaheer khan got my vote.. but in a few years RP singh would pass all of those to become one of the best..

Vass is good but he is more like medium pacer.. not fast bowler.. any bowler who have the wicket keepers close to stump just turn me off..that is one of the reason Zaheer got my vote over vass

Sidebottom: easily the best current left-arm seamer going around at the moment. Hopefully he continue his form. Its good that he has shaked off the tag of a Headingly speacialist.

Franklin: been out too long to give a proper opinion.

Vaas: best of the lot as everyone has said over a period of time.

Mithcell Johnson: still not decided about him, but leaning towards the thought that he will be replaced soon or just be carried along (like Lee was for a period of time). But with Tait still fragile, his closest challenges come from Hilfenhaus and Bollinger.

Pathan: best all-rounder on the list. Too bad to see that his bowling form has gone and with uprise of Sharma, its going to be hard for him to be a regular in the Test team. At 23, I believe that his the most potential out of everyone on the list.

Zaheer Khan: too many injuries, was going real good in England and Australia.

Pedro Collins: not seen enough to coment

Singh: I get the feeling that he is on a downward slide to mediocrity.

Yep. Reckon with a chance he would get his Test record to similar levels as the rest.

I'll find it hard to see Singh amount to anything substantial. I get the feeling he is heading in the Balaji direction who, with my many looks at numerous cricinfo scorecards isn't even playing domestic cricket.

He could average in the mid thirties but not in the twenties. He'd need alot of swinging conditions for that to happen. He would also play a high percentage of games in Australia which isn't the nicest place for swing bowling.
