If they choose Flynn ahead of Broom, Nicol and Hay I'll be livid.
Pretty much whats gonna happen then.

Also why the hell is Tim Lythe in the CD top order? I thought logic would dictate:

Ingram
Barnett
Weston
Hay
Worker

All are pretty decent (in Hays case excellent) bar Barnett.

And I wonder how many times thierry henry has met McCullum to declare him to be a "smart-arse big-noter".
tbh, once, over a fairly extended period, had a decent chat to him. Found him very pleasant. One of my favourite NZ players.

However, when analyzing his comments in interviews, demeanour and actions on the field, etc, I think he has his head in the wrong space a bit. A change in attitude (more focused on maximising performance and less on trying to take shortcuts in order to "dominate the opposition" or something like that, which I think he is obsessed with) would serve him well I think. His heart's in the right place, he has all the ability in the world, but he's underselling himself by trying to be some sort of hotshot eccentric batsman who wanders around the crease and tries to hit everything for 6 regardless of the situation. Not even Adam Gilchrist could get away with batting the way McCullum is trying to bat, and it shows in the way he gets off to plenty of flashy starts but never goes on with it.

An outstanding talent, performing to an acceptable level, who could do more if he adjusted his game mentally and technically, imo.

I think McCullum has decided a while back that he's in the side as a wicket keeper. He should really have been our opening batsman instead of a full time wicket keeper, but back then when he started, he needed to find a way to stay in the side. Remember when Matthew Bell was competing with him for the opening berth.

He used to play like Bell, tentative, technically correct batting. It's when he's forced down the order, and forced to save us god knows how many times down the order that he started to find his way in batting.

I don't know that McCullum was ever tentative, he made his name in 2000/01 in the NZ under-19 side as a blockbusting bat who scored at over a run a ball in under-19 "tests".

He may have appeared tentative in 2001/02 when picked for NZ as a specialist bat, but that's because he was a 20 year old keeper/batsman with no FC experience asked to open the batting for New Zealand. Hardly surprising he was nervous.

Sinclair on 84* at Tea. Handling Southee really well if the RadioSport guys are anything to go by. Hay sounds like a really nervy starter.. he's faced about 7 balls from Southee and has been beaten by every single one of them. He really is Sinclair IMO.

*cries*

TBF that pitch at Napier is on the edge of the wicket block and the rumour is its a bit dodgy. When I first heard James Marshall had sent us in at Napier my first thought was " " but I spose there must have been something that took Marshalls fancy.

And who would want to get out to a 19 year old anyway?

Hay will be alright (cue Southee bowling him)

And Sinny departs for 90. Don't know if that'll be enough to convince the selectors to send him to England, on a belter of a Napier track and against (bar Southee) a pretty ordinary Northern bowling attack
