Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane Broncos
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canterbury Bulldogs
Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders (Although I won't be too surprised if Raiders win)
Newcastle Knights vs Manly Sea Eagles
North Queensland Cowboys vs Wests Tigers
Melbourne Storm vs Cronulla Sharks (Sharks broke the Brookie fortress, but I still doubt whether the Sharks can break the Melbourne fortress).
New Zealand Warriors vs Parramatta Eels
St George Illawarra Dragons vs Gold Coast Titans (Dragons have a good record against them, but they were too dire last week to tip them)

Scoping some web sites out for BI who's in the Last man Standing thread, and came across this little montage of some absolute bell ringers.

Christ I love this game.

Edit: seriously, how hard did Solomon Haumono hit? Also, I remember Lewis' hit on Williams in the test v NZ. It was around the time the NZ lock Brendon Tuuta was running around taking heads off - he became a baby faced assassin a la Sir Les Boyd and the Aussies were really miffed about it. When Lewis crunched Williams in that hit, he got him to the ground, and apparently realised who he'd tackled and said "Oh, sorry mate, wrong fella. I thought you were that Tuuta bloke". True story!!

Is the ref for the Roosters/Broncos match Barry Gomersall reincarnated? At the very least he must be from QLD. A nice helping hand up the field to score after penalising Anasta for a 'high tackle'...and another obstruction controversy from the video ref.

Roosters easily the better team tonight. Terrible result.

Had money on Canterbury (-12.5) though and they won by 13. Very happy with that.

Roosters have no one to blame expect for themselves, they just couldn't finish them off. Looking at the Roosters side they got some really good players in certain positions. But they also have some massive holes in other areas. Will be interesting to see how they go. Mitchell Pearce looks better every match I see him. Got about 10 times the potential of hacks like Walsh and Mullen.

They made a decent attempt at finishing them off only to be called back for 'obstruction'...does anyone really know what's going on with this ruling? The fact that Broncos scored after receiving a dubious penalty for a 'high tackle' when they were deep down in their own territory when scores were tied wasn't of much benefit to them either.

TBH I don't think the refs even know what is the go with the obstrution rule this season. With the crack down sholder charges attacking the upper sholder and neck region, there are going to plenty of those type of high tackle pens during the first month. Until they figure out that they will **** up one of best aspects of game, for something that not really dangerous unless you attack someone neck or head. Most of time shoulder charges go wrong is when a player is falling it anyway.

End of day the Roosters weren't that dominate throughout the match. The most they lead by was six points. Overall they probably were the better side, but not by that much. The difference wasn't the referring it was the fact their main playmaker, Wallace, played a good 80 minutes and finished the game off for them. And Pearce basically had a really good first 40 and then sort of went missing after Anasta came back. The Roosters forwards didn't help much as they also went off the pace. One team finished better then the other. Maybe with some help from ref, but you always felt the Broncos were going to comeback.

Very pleased to see the Broncos winning even when they're not playing their best. Still don't know how that Roosters try wasn't awarded. Crazy stuff. Can't believe I tipped Souths in my online tipping comp. Thought for sure I had tipped the Bulldogs. :(

They didn't have much of a clue last season either. The roosters were all over the Broncos at the end of the first half, during which the disallowed try was scored if my memory serves me correctly. It's hard to predict what would have happened after that if they go into half-time with a good lead. The 'high tackle' lead to a Bronco's try that gave them the 6 point margin at the end.
