Wilko gets the arse

From the BBC:

England: I Balshaw (Gloucester); P Sackey (Wasps), J Noon (Newcastle), T Flood (Newcastle), L Vainikolo (Gloucester); D Cipriani (Wasps), R Wigglesworth (Sale Sharks); A Sheridan (Sale Sharks), L Mears (Bath), P Vickery (Wasps. capt), S Shaw (Wasps), S Borthwick (Bath), T Croft (Leicester), M Lipman (Bath), N Easter (Harlequins).
Replacements: G Chuter (Leicester), M Stevens (Bath), B Kay (Leicester), J Haskell (Wasps), P Hodgson (London Irish), J Wilkinson (Newcastle), M Tait (Newcastle).

I don't actually have a huge issue with the decision to drop him, but the speed of Brian's volte face on Cipriani is a wee bit unbecoming. Last Thursday he was a piss-head muppet & now he's our starting first-receiver.

Would've liked to have seen Simpson-Daniel for Vainikolo (whose ball-retention was shocking on Saturday) & AN Other (doesn't matter who) for Balshaw, but given Ashton's blue-eyed boy wasn't utterly dire v the sweaties it was never going to happen.

Trouble is France will have to beat Wales by 19 points (or 20 if they keep getting 'em in penalties) to stop them winning the Six Nations.

Rumours of Jake White replacing Brian Ashton after the 6 Nations are rife... I soooooo hope they're true, for the sake of English rugby.

I cannot believe that Jonny got dropped yet Ian 'skills of a 5 year old' Balshaw retains his place!!! He's rubbish!!! Tait should most definitely be starting IMO.

Hard to disagree with any of that. I thought Jonny had a pretty ordinary game versus Scotland, but Balshaw had been absolutely terrible for 3 whole games before he finally got the boot.

It actually said in the paper today that Wilko might yet be reprieved because Flood is apparently carrying a knock tho. 12 might be his position now; he seems to have lost his eye for a gap & his game management is a bit hit-or-miss currently.

You must be pleased to see Lipman doing so well tho, at least. :)

Definitely! He's stuck to his job & done it well, which he always does so well at Bath. Shame the same can't be said for most of the rest of the England pack. I think it's time Nick Easter got dropped - he is nowhere near Dallaglio or Corry in terms of presence & work rate at 8, which is kind of the point...although I wouldn't know who to replace him with.

Glad the sweaties lost, even if they did undeservedly avoid the wooden spoon. Don't really care what happens with England v Ireland, just hoping France can thrash the Welsh later.

England not looking great in the early stages, sweet try from Karney.

EDIT: England settling well, a close, entertaining game in prospect

Ah England stringing some passes together and we score a try. Cipriani has had a storming start, very very quick with the ball in hand.

How much longer before the nilwits who keep giving away utterly moronic penalties are dropped? There's not even any real advantage to doing the stuff they're getting pinged for if they happened to get away with it.

Good stuff from England's backs, Wilko looking pretty decent at inside with the decision making removed from his shoulders. Interesting decisions to be made in the future methinks.

France been pathetic so far, bit embarrassing to be outwitted by Wales too (committing half their team to breakdowns nearly everytime while Wales regularly committed no-one to them in defense).

Still only 9-6 down with one in the bin for Wales.

Yeah, pisses me off does that. Idiotic forwards with hands in ruck, they are never going to get away with it, so why ****ing bother you moron.
