Why so much fuss in the media about exclusion of Sehwag in last couple of games ?

It isn't as if he was scoring centuries after centuries in ODIs and still being left out. 6, 33, 11, 14 is what he has made so far in this series, pretty poor and deserves to be left out.

When a player can hit 4s and 6s (no matter how inconsistently) and has been out of the side for a while, when he comes back, even 20s and 30s are praised....


Juz watch Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar and Co. waxing lyrical about Dhoni's "improved" batting in the tests against Australia. Would bet a million dollars (if I had that, obviously ) that the same run of scores by a DK or a Parthiv and similar standard of keeping would have had them calling for their heads.


Unfortunately, in India, how you score, what you look like, how you carry yourself in front of a crowd etc. play as big a part as actual cricketing skills while judging a cricketer, at least with the majority.....


Any guy with REAL cricket knowledge would have easily worked out that Sehwag has been a liability in our side in ODIs for a few years now.....

Geez, SL are doing it tough with 55 off the first 18 overs. Munaf is bowling hand grenades if his figures are to be believed. It's gone overcast here in Adelaide so that could have something to do with it.

The way scores have gone this year (< 250), I feel like we've been time warped back to the 90's. Who says bowling standards have declined? Eat your computer.

While the Lankans may either be complimented for steadying the innings or criticised for scoring too slowly without threatening the fielding side, the Indians have messed it up by defensive field settings and bowling plans. No wickets for over 30 overs suggests something gone wrong, especially after the scorching opening spell. We've seen boundary-saving field settings for the last ten overs, which were a failure, as boundaries were still hit, and they also pinched singles. Seeing boundaries through slips by edges was really annoying.

If you think five bowlers mean the Indian team's a batsman light, look at this Lankan team. They played a batsman light as well, but the application shown by Sangakkara and Mahela showed how they can get a lot out of a relatively lighter batting lineup by sensible batting, which has often been lacking in India's seven-strong batting.

And of course, an excellent innings by Sangakkara. He mixed caution with aggression, staying on for nearly forty overs, facing tough bowling, coming off a dreadful start. His innings had 44 runs in boundaries, with a lot more runs coming between the wickets. This was the perfect innings- running singles when necessary, pinching extra singles to unsettle the fielding sides, hitting boundaries when the right deliveries come, managing the batsman at the other end- all of this from a batsman a lot less experienced than a few missing in this serie.

Only saw the last couple of overs but our top order is due. Chapelli reckons advantage Lanka but looking at how hard it seemed for bowlers to get batsmen out I have a good feeling about this.

Sangakkara's innings today was the innings of the series thus far for mine. He delivered a meaningfully measured and well constructed century under immense pressure.

Hopefully our bowlers do something special and get SL home.
