The thing is if you start it too early then a lot of regular team might not enter the cup. You need to keep the thread open for atleast two weeks, before you start making fixtures. A lot of teams don't even start thinking about friendly cups until they are knocked out of the real cup.

Not missing too many regulars now, only one who posts regularly but hasn't signed up is The Heath CC. Also, Raghav showed exceptional eagerness last year but hasn't signed up yet.

Still 15 friendly weeks left by my count, so probably no need to have a preliminary for another week or two. Trev makes a good point, but it doesn't seem very popular, so I guess we'll have a straight knockout preliminary starting in about four weeks' time - alternatively a group stage, depends what the lowest-seeded teams want really.

Not even a slight weighting towards Batstats, taking into account how teams could be misrepresented by their previous performances in the Cup?

Having looked at the seedings, weak. How can Jaffna be ahead of Withington? Sure he made the final, but didn't Withington, you know, win the thing a few back?

Haha should put some weighting atleast towards Batstats and past cup performance outside the last two seasons. Nothing wrong with basing it on the last two cup performances, but to have no weighting on other factors is strange.
