If Ponting doesn't come up for Sunday's game, do people think Hodge will still get the call up? Would David Hussey instead be a better call?

Adam Voges need a chance, you can't just keep picking him in the squad and never playing him.

For me for the first game.

  1. Sehwag
  2. Tendulkar
  3. Gambhir
  4. Uthappa
  5. Raina
  6. Pathan
  7. Dhoni
  8. Harbhajan
  9. Sreesanth
  10. Ishant
  11. Munaf Patel
How could you possibly pick Gambhir over Rohit Sharma, Swaranjeet Sahib ?
The chance than Rohit will actually amount to something useful at inetrnational level is far greater than Gambhir...

he's not in the squad..neither is Hussey or Hodge

the next batsman in line is Haddin (he's the only back up batsman)

but who would bat at 3?

Suppose it makes sense for Haddin to play, given that we KNOW he'll be in the team going forward after the end of the CB series - might as well get him comfortable in the team while we can. Will Clarke be the long term replacement for Gilchrist as the opener? He seems to like opening in ODIs...

Have we got anymore warm up matches after this. A tad surprising to see Perera not play a single game so far. If Jayasuriya injuried we might have no choice but to open with him and Tharanga.

  • India may have just missed out on beating Kenya's record for the lowest T20 score ever but they have done al India proud by establishing an all time world record in the lowest number of runs scored in boundaries in a T20 innings - 12 !!
  • India also established a new world record for the slowest run rate in any completed T20 innings with their 74 runs in 17.3 overs.
  • I think I must be correct in saying that this must be the only instance in T20 cricket where ten batsmen in a side failed to reach double figures.

Well done young India.

I'll be pissed if they play both Gambhir and Karthik tomorrow, as the Cricinfo preview seems to indicate.

i hope not, he is so important in the middle overs against med pace/spin... particularly spin as our batting are prone to collapses against quality spin
