Tough call. Zaheer IMO is a much better bowler than RP atm. And I don't see Zaheer cracking top five, considering where he has to bowl for the next year.
Well RP is only 22 years old and is already a pretty good bowler. With some more experience and confidence he'll be a real asset to India and could be a potential top 10 ranked bowler. Zaheer on the other hand is 30 or nearing it, he'll only have a few more years left I would think, especially with his constant issues with fitness.

Thats what they say about every Indian bowler. Remember Ashish Nehra, Ajit Agarkar, Balaji?

I'd rate RP Singh above all of them. He's got more swing, pace and above all intelligence than all three. He's a thinking bowler, goes around the wicket heaps and has a pretty sharp bouncer as evident when he got Gilchrist out caught behind after Gilchrist had smacked him for three consecutive boundaries. I'm backing RP here to become a much better bowler than all of them.

Ah, Balaji. CW.net would be about half as populated if it wasn't for him.

I'm with masterblaster; I'd back him against all of them. Doesn't appear to be as reliant on the conditions as they are. Plus, he gets big wraps from his opponents, not just in India which says a lot.

Actually, the problem is India. Many bowlers find themselves ineffective in India and decide to lower the pace and all that. As long as they are bowling away, they can get some assitance. At home, very few wickets are gifted to a fast bowler.

Na, what I meant was that he gets big wraps elsewhere (such as in England) and not just in India which distinguishees him from Balaji, Agarkar, Nehra, etc. As far as the conditions go, I reckon he'll do relatively well anywhere based onw hat I've seen of him in this series and in England. He has a really confident aura about him and doesn't seem to panic if things aren't going well for him. There's definitely a method for bowling well in India, after all; Glenn McGrath averages 21 in India with no 5-fers! His RPO in India is lower than his overall career so maybe there's part of the secret. Having decent support at the other end would help so if India pick the bowlers to support each other rather than relying on one bloke taking a bag, I reckon even in India they'll do well.

I still feel our best attack would be Zaheer, RP & Sreesanth. Inspite of Sharma improving massively and really developing, I still think Sreesanth is a tad more consistent in getting swing and seam movement. But the selectors must let Sreesanth know that Sharma's on his hammer so he can't afford to get his antics affect his bowling.

You have to squeeze Pathan into the lineup somewhere - I reckon he should be in the top 6 as soon as one of the big 4 retire so we can always play with 5 bowlers.

Disagree with Zaheer being the same as RP and Pathan. Whilst both RP & Pathan's modus operandi is mainly swing, Zaheer is more than capable of prodigious seam movement as well as swinging it all day.

In Order
1. Zaheer
2. RP
3. Sreesanth
4. Sharma
5. Pathan
6. Munaf

Five bowlers is fine, but in India you need two spinners. Overseas, you can play with four seamers and one spinner.

If the pitches are like the ones in the Pakistan series, like, then 3 pacers and 1 spinner is better. At least the pacers can get some useful movement with reverse swing.

Was very surprised that Sehwag since the WI tour has taken 11 wickets @ 23 with a strike rate of 59 and economy rate of 2.4.All of his bowling has been overseas, but surely there is something in here. Statistics dont tell the entire story, in which case Sehwag's bowling in this series was more impactful than the stats suggest.

I think Ravi Shastri wrote after Perth that Sehwag with the ball and Pathan with the bat offer India a lot of options.

Ponting ruled out, Hodge to bat at 3 and Hussey to debut.

When was the last time there was 2 vics in the same national team?
