I don't think that an Australia A will ever get to play Australia in a real match. Firstly it might show up some of the main squad. Secondly we already have a reputation of being arrogant and I can only see people using it as another excuse to denigrate us with the call of arrogance. (That our A side would be better then some other drafted minor Test playing country which we could have invited to fill the spot.)

At the time he was a regular the Sri Lankan squad and number 2 spinner ahead of Chandana, Dharmensena, Hearth and Bandara. Also he plays for SSC, so he would have got off even if he wasn't in the national squad.
Well friends in high places or being part of the right team helps.

They did that in 94/95 IIRC but they weren't official ODIs and Australian fans were cheering on Australia 'A' rather then Australia!

If India go home is there any possability of Australia A taking the place of them?
If India decide against playing , you can be dead certain SL will not go against it's friend and neighbour unless there is some major fine etc at stake....

Infact we might as well call this series off then...

It's a shame that there's all this talk about boycotting the series. I personally would love to see the series go on, I'm sure it would be a cracker.

The talk about boycott is exaggerated anyway. This series will happen.

And anyone who thinks Australia A participating in the CB Series would be great, seriously have a good hard look at yourself. It was **** last time they played.

Yeah, agree with Jono. The BCCI won't boycott the ODI tour, not with the amount of money it'll bring them.

Yeah Australia A for a full series was pathetic. I don't mind the one off game, but for a whole series is ridiculous.

Could be more opportunities in future years for Australia A teams in warm up games with no tri-series next year. Maybe a 2 or 3 game mini series. Not sure it will happen though.

Nah pretty sure Cricket Australia would rather touring sides play grade standard teams, then get decent hit out against a decent standard sides.

ACT XI and CA Chairmen XI i.e non first class team. Also the QAS (Queensland 2nd XI) have played tour matches recently. Granted both were just below FC standard, but seriously is that hard to work your fixtures in domestic cricket so team atleast play the main state sides, they did it in the past and do it in every other country.

But the last match against India featured an ACT Invitational XI, otherwise how would Chris Rogers make it in?
If you want Chris Rogers and co to play, make the tour match an Australian A game. One player dosen't change the fact the side was below FC standard. When Rogers plays for his grade side, they don't become a FC side.

Don't know what you mean

But it won't happen, India and Sri Lanka are still playing.
He means that next time India or Sri Lanka host Australia, they should just give them tour matches against their 2nd string FC sides in the Plate and Div 2 comps, if Australia keep providing tour matches with ACT and Chairmen XI sides.

Sri Lanka squad: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Dilruwan Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Chanaka Welegedara, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Farveez Maharoof, Ishara Amerasinghe

FFS why are they going back to Nuwan Kulasekera, finally Thushara and to a lesser extent Zoysa hit some form. Loving the no Muburak in the side though.
