I suppose at times like this it's good that we bat pretty deep. Hogg, Lee and Johnson are all capable of scoring runs.

Hogg averages 35 at FC level surprisingly...
It's only surprising if you're younger than 21. Hogg was picked as a batting all-rounder for WA initially. The guy can bat and the only reason we haven't seen it for Australia is because he usually comes in for the slog overs and Hogg is more of a nick and nudge merchant. If he has some time to bat, don't be surprised if he knocks up some useful scores.

Yeah, it's a deadset 8| that they've got Lee ahead of Hogg in the order AND they've got the all-rounder symbol next to Lee's name and not Hogg's.

It's like no one at Channel 9's ever seen a game that wasn't a test match involving Australia.

Oh... god this can't be happening how can we flounder so badly after getting off the blocks so bloody well, Gilly and Symmo aren't the ideal pair that i would have wished for getting us out of this hole.
Anyways lets hope we can somehow reach 400 from here, but seriously we just can't lose another wicket today.

I would back Hogg to bat decently enough in a test match surely there would be some butterflies in his stomach as he is making a comeback at such a big stage but nothing would piss me more if Lee comes into bat ahead of George.

1) Why on earth is Harbhajan playing? He's completely toothless. I would've played Pathan instead - at least he can bat. (TBH I don't know Harbhajan's even in the squad. His record in Australia is probably worse than Tendulkar's and Ganguly's) It really feels like they need a third medium seamer. Sorely missing Sreesanth here.

2) RP and Zaheer bowling consistently in the mid 120s. If that were in the late 130s, that edge to Laxman would've carried.

3) Gilchrist-Symonds might be the key. They score quick and big. Get these two out, and there's a chance Australia will go down for less than 350.

4) Kumble, set an attacking field, for crap's sake.

5) Ian Chappell's commentary is awfully biased. He goes overboard with the Aussie-love a little too much.

6) I'm watching some of these Indian commercials in the break and DAMN they've got world-class cinematography.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he wasn't even a part time bowler in his first couple of seasons for WA. He was a specialist batsman, and only started bowling chinamen in the nets after Bevan started getting a few results on the national stage.

From memory, the story was that Tom Moody asked him to spend more time developing his bowling after Hogg beat his bat a few times in the nets.

Great Test cricket atm, one wicket and India may set this up for a great result, one decent partnership and Aust may reach 500+

Test cricket the only game for my money:cool:

Well, considering Bevo started bowling regularly in the Aussie side around 1996 and Brad Hogg played his first Test a bit before and had been bowling spin for WA for about 2-3 years before that, that's a little difficult to believe. :)

Brad Hogg played first for WA around 1993 and it was about after his first season that he took up bowling full-time having been a pace bowling allrounder in under-age and district cricket.

Has Khan returned to the field. During the Englad tour out here a real weakness outside of off stump to good pace man made lee struggle a lot.

I know he’s not a batsman but an average over 20 is solid but he is vulnerable to this tactic

I was just about to post that this partnership was looking ominous when Kumble gets Symonds. Huge breakthrough and a great fight back by India after the opening partnership. Much better than I expected tbh.
