Agreed, by and large. That said, its therefore nice to see those abberations corrected when players get the chance, so you don't have to have 15 pages of arguments from some Statsguru jockey in a few years time about how the player in question is actually mediocre because of them :p
The funny thing is in a decades time they may look to how he performed at home V the Aussies and away and come to the conclusion that he was poor, for example, because of something to do with Australian pitches, whereas they won't say that he bowled well but was played excellently.

Sanga's dismissal put a real damper on what was a fine batting display. Proberly he worst iv see in my short time watching cricket. Top class batting none the less.
Will be looking forward to the India test now starting on my birthday.

Frankly speaking Aussies would have to do something to improve the quality of the Australian pitches for the Indian series, with the kind of strength India has in its batting ranks the Australians would have their work cut out dismissing the Indians twice on flat tracks that we have witnessed so far this summer, as it would be too unfair to expect this new look Australian bowling attack to be too effective again and again on such flat tracks.

Still though if they try to out-spin the Indians they'll be ****ed. Lets have something for the quickies!

India's middle order batting is a tad over-stated IMO. Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman are fine players indeed but they aren't really a patch on what they were the last time India toured. I'm not saying they shouldn't be in the team as they are still quality, but they definitely look quite a bit better on paper than they actually are. I think the openers will struggle with the bounce a little, too, especially early in the tour. Half expecting Chopra to be in the team by the end of the series if they bring him over.

Well, Ganguly and Tendulkar are in form and Dravd and Laxman are Dravid and Laxman. But I understand where you are coming from - they really, really should be dominating. In saying that, I don't think they'll struggle against the Aus attack too much, though Johnson could be the bogey man.

Jaffer/Dinesh-Sehwag-Gambhir then Chopra, maybe even just to get the in form batsman in the team, they'll open with Yuvraj, but I'm willing to have an avatar bet with you than Chopra won't be selected (not put you down, but I've never had an avatar bet).

They won't go down the road of opening with Yuvraj again. He's quite poor against the moving the ball and he'd just be a walking wicket like he has been when they've tried it in the past. The could conceivably push Dravid up one but I doubt it.

Regarding the avatar bet, I'd rather not get too far ahead of myself. Chopra's only an even money bet to even go on the tour at this stage, and the opening partnership was great in England as well. We'll talk after they name the squad. :)

Hmm, am I missing something? When did Chopra's name start getting mentioned again? First I've heard of anything.

I guess someone listens to me. :p

I think the current combo has done well and will be given the chance, but I never feel comfortable with them there and we'll see how they do in Australia. They likely will be taking three openers, but the third might be Sehwag. Chopra (for me) is ideal, but unless I missed something, I don't think he is seriously in the running.
