Anyone else suprised Simpson is captaining QLD? thought Hartley/Noffke/Hopes would've all been ahead of him.

Honestly, I thought Hopes might get it, but with Maher relinquishing the captaincy for next season I think they're looking for a long term captain and with Hopes likely to be on international duty for half the season they're looking for someone who can do it full time.

Hartley needs to find batting form, not given the captaincy and Noffke is in great form doesn't need something extra to think about.

I'm a fan of Broad, but I don't think he's much at all ahead of Moller.

Also since Doran doesn't bowl Simpson shouldn't be in the top 6 IMO and we could add another batsmen.

This would then mean
7 Simpson 8 Noffke 9 Bichel 10 Hartley

Which is awesome especially with Hopes and Watson and whoever you want at 11, hopefully Kaspa..

Give us an extra batsmen which is good because lambert,forrest and cowan have had flat seasons so far.
The way casson has played lambert should be 12th man,so cameron can play,altho lambert at 7,casson 8 nicho 9 makes the batting deep.
Qld will struggle to put a team on the park,maher will miss the game,watson still struggling to be a 100 %,familiar story,kasper won't play.Qld need to win this game desperately or fall behind by a long way.

Yes I would rather pick Phillipson over Doran.

How frustrating is Martin Love btw in Pura Cup matches - He's one of the worst batsmen at starting. So many edges, lbw's at the start of a Love innings.

We actually have good depth with Nye, Philipson, Moller, Kruger, Carseldine all capable of stepping up.

I had no idea that Lee Carseldine still existed!

Where has Carseldine been hiding for 3 years? I used to really like the look of him back in about 03/04, even heard people in high places speculating he was a future ODI player...I know he had some back troubles but it must've been pretty bad for him to go missing so long.

I haven't heard much of him in grade cricket in Brisbane either

Had major problems with his back. Made a mini come back for one game or two and really screwed up his back. I think he only resumed playing this season. Does a fair bit of coaching stuff for Qld Cricket IIRC.

Indeed. Certainly keeping his name infront of the selectors. Although would need an injury the way Aussie bowlers are going at the moment.

I'm not sure on Symonds injury (I doubt it'll keep him out of the next test, which is obviously a long way away.) but he'd surely be up there as a front runner, would he not?

I'm pretty sure Symonds will play in the next test. But if he doesn't, Noffke is definitely an option batting at 7.
