Number 5 isn't necessarily a worse batsman than number 4 - I didn't interpret SJS' guidelines that strictly. Atherton and Boycott aren't better than Compton either for example.

Bart KIng ? Great bowler, Far too good a batsman to bat at number 11.

Anyway I think we should stick to those who played tests otherwise a whole lot of first class cricketers come in.

You could use Khan Mohammad. A fast bowler who played for Pakistan in the fifties took 54 wickets in just 13 tests at 23.9.

  • Dravid at 4,
  • Bill Edrich (not John) at 5,
  • Ironmonger (74 wkts in just 14 tests at under a8 each) instead of Illing worth at 9,
  • Ernest Jones (not Simon) as the super fast bowler at 10 and
  • a third spinner (after Faulkner and Illingworth) in Kumble at number 11.

Yes you could do that. What this side really needs is another good new ball bowler to go with Imran. With Illingworth (off spin), Intikhab (leg spin) and Iqbal Qasim(left arm spin) we have a good variety of spin.

Actually we should have Ironmonger in there in place of Iqbal Qasim.

Kumble has batted below Harbhajan so often and I consider that an ultimate insult to any one's batting capabilities. :)

Kumble though he has finally managed a hundred hasnt been much of a batsman for most of his career.

But it IS a point, howsoever minor. I would replace him with Kaneria Danish.

crazy stuff.. another ineresting way would be a player from each test nation. aust.ban.eng.ind.sl.nz.pak.wi.zim. you can have 2 players from one country and 1 from the reamaining countrys or 3 from one country and 1 from the remainder.
