If you are going to play both Dhoni and Karthik in the side, then Dhoni should keep.

For England, I'd send Flintoff out to open, and give him a bit of a license. Just see the ball, and hit it.
Yes, yes, that's exacrly what we need. Scrap Prior, he can't bat or keep, stick our only real pinch-hitter up at the top, sorted.

Very good ending partnership. But that lbw appeal was definatley out.

Tendulkar's 50 was good.

Flintoff opening....ugh. When was the last time he "smacked" it any way, his big hitting ability is somewhat overrated me thinks.

Well when he's playing well then no it isn't overated, he can smash it an absolute mile, and off the fastest and best bowlers. But when he's bad, he isn't just bad, he's god damn bloody awful.

Problem is Flintoff's batting has been nigh on useless for nearly 2 years now...he's not just in a bad trot, it could be much more serious then hat.

Well not 2 years, he was pretty good in India, and showed glimpses of what he can do in Australia 06/07, but apart from that, he has been pretty bad.

I actually can't remember his last successful 'big hit', he seem to get caught every time he tries. It's like the longer he goes without one the more often he tries and the more often he gets out doing it. He should just go back to basics for now, you can't slog your way into form. Although even attempting proper cricket shots he looks awful at the minute. No better than a No. 8 at the moment.

Flintoff has never been a great rotater of the strike, a key ingredient where he is coming in. It's a lot easier to do that in the early overs, with more aggressive fields, and Flintoff tends to prefer the ball coming onto the bat, at least early on in his innings. He only really has one answer to spinners - boom them, and that's a lot harder to do when you've first come in.

Fred hits the ball with very hard hands and he has this habit of picking up fielders in the outfield perfectly and holding out to them, there two flaws have seriously restricted his growth as a batsman IMO, his batting seems to be getting more dire with every passing year which is definitely a concern.

Credit to Bopara and Broad for having the brains (even at 114-7) to realise that all they had to do was bat and they would win, since they was never any run rate pressure. It would have been less hairy if our top order had used their brains as well. I see Chris Braoad doesn't want his son to tour SL. Sorry Chris more performances like that and he will - especially as our Test team is crying out for a No 8 that can get 30s 40s and 50s. A couple of points. Flintoff: people who say hois ODI batting has been poor since the start of 2006 are wrong. It's been poor before then. He had only one 50 in the summer of 2005 in ODIs but because of the Ashes hype that is forgoten. He hasn't ben good batting in ODIs since the summer of 2004 when he scored his three ODI hundreds. And it is an interesting point , btw, to think that we are 3-1 up in this series and KP's biggest contribution has been with the ball in getting Tendulkar out. Remembering also that our main ODI succsess since his debut was in the CB series - in which he played one game - and one wonders why his individual sucsess has not contributed to team victories. Hmmmm.....
