Haha dire.

Last week: Clayton (+) c. & b. Ryan 99
This week: Clayton b. Nile 97

Clayton got out for 90s two weeks in a row. Atleast it shows me that quality batsmen can score runs against these sides and my training program should end up working ok.

Code:
End of Over 37: 198-3, runrate=5.35, reqrunrate=10.23 (330-9)
Nile 5-0-25-1
Quintin* 40 (43 balls)
Ellis 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Clayton b. Nile 97 (FOW: 198/3)
This team rolled me for 141 last time, so its an improvement. Still on track for that 250.

Bowling against the bottom side in the division:

End of Over 18: 71-4, runrate=3.94
Preece 4-0-21-2
Kennedy* 23 (47 balls)
Read 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Brittas c & b. Preece 23 (FOW: 71/4)

Not much batting left now, Summers will be back on shortly.

Playing against margate ccc(last place in my league)

The Heath CC: 179/0 (22) Grant 100*, Sutton 73*

Grant's century coming from 62 balls, Sutton is scoring at a rather more sedate pace with his 73* coming from 70 balls.

End of Over 30: 103-7, runrate=3.43
Summers 10-2-18-3
Packer* 4 (5 balls)
Duberry 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Kennedy lbw b. Summers 32 (FOW: 103/7)

Summers taking a wicket on the first and last ball of his second spell. Hopefully can finish this off quickly.

Taking a similar gamble to the one I took against bobisback in our cup match, this time against my league leader. Bowling defensively on a flat pitch, and bowling out my best bowlers before the death to reduce the run rate as much as possible in an attempt to neutralise his lengthy batting lineup. Took some early wickets but then it all went quiet. Only one more half-decent batsman to come, though, so I might fluke a BT-collapse, I s'pose. Looks like a 230+ target otherwise, which may or may not be do-able.

End of Over 30: 115-4, runrate=3.83
Oleary 10-4-21-2
Khaliq* 22 (31 balls)
Connelly 43 (75 balls)

Just lost my first wicket

The Heath CC: 233/1 (33) Grant 120*, Sutton 101

I'm glad Sutton got his century, but he has mediocre stamina, so I'm not surprised he got out. Grant is also mediocre stamina and has slowed down recently, so hopefully he'll go soon and leave the way clear for Thorpe and Gardiner to get us up to 300 and, hopefully, well beyond.

Playing NorCricket tonight, both of us are sitting on three losses so another loss will all but end our hopes of winning the title this season. If I do manage to win I'll to take on Borderliners next week who I'm yet to beat in two matches this season. Will probably hold on to Whitehorne for these two matches at least unless someone really tempting is listed.

The Heath CC: 352/2 (50) Grant 146, Sutton 101, Thorpe 52*

Grant made his third century of the season, and his highest score yet, Sutton made his second century and Thorpe his maiden half-century. All stars 2k8 have lost an early wicket in reply...

Exciting stuff; am on the run rate, but quickly running out of decent batsmen with Platt and Bromby gone. Nothing less than a Janes century will win this match, I fear...

End of Over 17: 84-2, runrate=4.94, reqrunrate=4.58 (234-7)
Harper 2-0-12-1
Liebenberg* 12 (40 balls)
Janes 0 (0 balls)

Won by 10 wickets, with over half the overs remaining.

Checking in on my cup opposition who are playing Withington. If Withington lose from having their them 54-4 chasing 211 (one of the in-batsmen has a career average of just over 20) I'm gonna hunt Mahindinho down...

So much for that:

25.1 W Farmer to Janes
I think everybody heard that nick to Verde. Janes didn't even wait around for the umpire to raise his finger.

Pretty unlikely to win now at 122-3 chasing 234. Curse my lack of batting depth.

I may have to start running!

Neither of those batsmen are all that bad -- San's scored heavily against me before, I think, while Singh is an Indian NT all-rounder.

This has been my best batting performance of the season -- it might even be the first time that I've lasted 50 overs in the league. One more wicket, and I'll back my lot. However, it's not looking good.

Downer making himself useful today.

13/07/2007 Asterix XI v NorCricket United
Asterix XI won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Slow

End of Over 6: 24-2, runrate=4.00
Downer 3-0-4-2
Dewing* 10 (16 balls)
Rutherford 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Persaud c. Richardson b. Downer 0 (FOW: 24/2)

Changed the bowling orders so that he's bowling 10 through, hopefully he can get a couple more.

He's not an all-rounder, he's a bowler who bats a little (probably has good concentration and a weak primary).
