Apologies

OK, well, I'm sorry, but it's dragged on too late collecting stats and I simply can't get the first lot out before, say, 10 hours. Captains, feel free to name your second matchday team in the meantime. Cribb gets an extra chance to name his lot too.

I swear I read somewhere we were starting on Monday anyway, hence me not naming my side yet. Did we change that without me noticing or was I seeing things?

Was changed at the bottom of page 8 (Saturday midnight your time) to fit a 6-team league in the timeframe.

All to bowl 5 overs except me. Everyone will get a go at different strange roles this season - it's hard to be too creative though because we have a team full of multi-skilled allrounders as it is.

Indeed it is a pleasure Mr Wright.

Should bring back some old times if we get to take the new cherry.
Hope it does for old time's sake. But, not sure what the skipper has in mind.

The Kylston Bar is putting on a bar tab to celebrate the reunion. Basically stays open until I pass out. So, I'd get in quick.

Suit up! vs Jamee's Crew
in PDV Dome

Scorecard
Commentary

Despite a hundred from captain Mat Mitchell, his team fell miserably short after failing to exploit the fielding restrictions and the first 16 overs. Both Mitchell and Rai left too much alone, and chasing 224 in the remaining 24 overs proved impossible as Rai kept on leaving, eventually running himself out for a 105-ball 46.

The highlight of the game, from a charity point of view, was the Suit up! wicketkeepers attempting to bowl the ball at Su, who showed glimpse of batting talent against the 40mph straight ones served from the other end. After 13 overs, Camps and Su had added 65, and the wicketkeepers-turned-seamers showed visible signs of tear and were taken off.

Incredibly, it was Camps who went off to the pavilion first, gloving Das' first ball, a very full toss, through to Gough for 54. Loganathan played out the maiden over. Su stuck in, however, surviving a sharp chance on 24 to forge a big stand with a very belligerent Mamesh. Eventually Su perished lbw for 36, given dubiously lbw to a Ritchie off-break. The remaining overs were played out in more sedate fashion, Mamesh going from 34 off 15 to 49 off 34 before falling to Ritchie, but Wilson, Kerr and Pickup all hit some good strokes off an expensive Fuller.

The chase wasn't much to report on. Only Bochat got a wicket, with Gough smashing seven runs before falling lbw, but Mitchell and Rai failed to get bat on 45mph swing bowling from Chaulk and Gray, helped by the cloud cover. Mitchell improved, ending with a creditable unbeaten 103, but the rate was still too slow for the chase of 265.

Jamee's Crew 264 for six (50 overs)
LA Camps 54, T Mamesh 49, MW Wilson 44*; ZJ Ritchie 2-21, SE Fuller 2-33

Suit up! 205 for two (50 overs)
MT Mitchell 103*; T Bochat 1-50

Jamee's Crew won by 59 runs
Man of the Match: T. Mamesh (Crew)

Boulevard Bombers v R. G. E. W. S. Cribb's XI
at CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Commentary

A spectacular innings from Rob Dauth helped the Cribb's XI across the line in a fascinating chase towards the 222 set by the Bombers, who had three batsmen to ground out runs but failed to dominate any of the bowlers, except Callum Thompson's death effort.

After a fine catch from Cribb behind the sticks dismissed captain Xavier Rose for eight, Butler and Luff ground out runs, but only Ethan McNamara came in for serious stick during their partnership of 86. Luff fought on, grinding out a total of 88 runs, but Tarick Weber's leg spin as seventh change turned out to be decisive. He took three for 12, keeping the run rate down at the death despite Thompson giving up six an over during his spell.

The chase was brutal. David Pares and Greg Thomas used the new ball well, and when Cribb strode to the crease for his XI they were 50 for four, with Donald, McNamara, Weber and Nayak all perishing feebly. Then came the brutal sixth over of Pares' spell. Dauth played five expansive strokes, reaping 19 runs and cutting the required rate below four an over.

Dauth reached his fifty in 29 balls, and continued to cut the run rate, but wickets also fell at inopportune moments. When Halsey had Cunningham lbw a competitive game of cricket truly broke out, with 60 runs required and three wickets in hand. One of them, however, was James Stedman, putting the favourite tag clearly on the Cribb eleven. Stedman pulled off some fine strokes, but departed for 20, leaving Towns and Thompson to get them home. Despite only two wickets in hand, Gelman failed to repeat the heroics of the one-day final, and the Bombers were thwarted.

Boulevard Bombers 221 for six (50 overs)
MD Luff 88, CR Butler 46; TV Weber 3-12, BC Cunningham 2-13

R. G. E. W. S. Cribb's XI 222 for eight (38.1 overs)
RJ Dauth 84; DPW Pares 3-50 (6!), TC Halsey 2-18, RA Williams 2-25

R. G. E. W. S. Cribb's XI won by two wickets
Man of the Match: R. J. Dauth (Cribb)

Crampton's XI v Bronx Cheerers
in CW Oval

Scorecard
Commentary

Bowlers dominated this clash, celebrating high bounce and upside-down batting line-ups. Kyle Wright got first use of the ball as Clapham opted to bat first, sending Andy Cameron into the lion's den once more. Kyle Wright was just too good for the tailenders, however, and Cameron only got bat on one ball, the one he feathered to Garven at third slip, leaving Clapham and Davis to negotiate the opening overs.

Naturally, it came to a brief end. Davis actually came up with some fine strokes, taking nine off a Forner over, then nicked the next ball he faced from Forner to Richards, and Borcich dragged on a yorker. Raghav and Dwyer eventually joined for the fifth wicket, as the batting line-up began to emerge, but at the end of the fourteenth over the score read 44 for four.

Nevertheless, Garven's medium pace, usually so effective for Green, was taken apart by Raghav, who settled in for a fine 22 before Crampton dismissed him at midwicket, caught off Watt's bowling. Watt's quick deliveries yielded three wickets, and it looked doubtful whether the Cheerers would even make it past 150.

However, an upside down batting line-up has one benefit; it's likely that the bottom five will do well. With the help of extras and some extravagant shots - the straight six by Dobson off a Crampton 50mph no-ball a highlight - Bronx smashed their way to 204, eventually bowled out by Smith for 204, with de Silva making the highest score.

Crampton's chosen ones started well, Reddlapalli easing out 21 overs from gentle opening bowling. However, de Silva got the wood on him towards the end, the swing beating the batsman on a number of occasions. His eighth over was, however, his best. Gaining visible swing and even an extra yard of pace, Scott had no option but to offer a feeble bottom edge, while Smith's opening stint also came to an end. Suddenly, de Silva stood with figures of four for 30, and the Crampton eleven were in tatters at 62 for five.

Worse was to come. After Watt opened the face of the bat and took six runs off de Silva's ninth, he drove Sharma to Borcich for 17, and de Silva could celebrate a five-for when Richards dragged him on for 3. Then, Sharma took his third wicket of the day, Garven nicking a return catch; 81 for eight in the 21st over, and the team needed a miracle.

Kearsley and Wright nearly provided it, too. Striking the ball cleanly throughout, Wright played well until he reached 26, when Bennett and Corrin returned some control to a frantic game of cricket, and he played eight balls without scoring before charging Corrin and getting stumped. Kearsley was undeterred, but failed to rotate the strike properly with Forner, who barely got ball on anything during his 38-ball tenure. Kearsley battled on, taking Dwyer for 12 off the 45th over, and with 24 required off 30 balls there was some hope for Crampton's side. However, Forner was required to face Sharma's final over, and offered no stroke to one that jagged back in and trapped him lbw.

Bronx Cheerers 204 all out (44.4 overs)
MW de Silva 37; KS Wright 3-8, DJ Watt 3-24, RJ Malone 2-27

Crampton's XI 181 all out (45.5 overs)
DA Kearsley 61*; MW de Silva 5-38, A Sharma 4-48

Bronx Cheerers won by 23 runs
Man of the Match: M. W. de Silva (Bronx)

Just doing my thing for charity.

Looks like a very interesting charity series to come.

Good start to the charity series, as all games were competetive. Great win for us as well mainly thanks to Dauth's batting and Weber's bowling.
