When do England announce their squad?

I'm assuming that it will be quite similar to that of the Ashes XV, only interesting thing will be the selection of the bowling line-up. Freddie, Hoggie and Monty seem certanties while Harmison, Anderson and Mahmood seem to be fighting for the last position (or is their two more poisitons up for offer?)

Hopefully Harmison won't get picked.

Also, the accomodation of Vaughan into the team requires someone to vacate their poisition in the batting line-up, that being either Cook, Bell or Collingwood. I don't think that there are many posters on the site that would support Vaughan's inclusion, but I have a feeling Cook will make way.

I think Broad would go pretty well. Also, resting Flintoff is a horrible idea.

This is a really important test series for England who had a miserable winter to say the least.

I can't see us losing a test match but the ODIs and T20s are anyone's guess.

If you are going to go with the direction you have then I think that Bell should bat higher than Collingwood. Also, why open with Cook when Strauss is a more accomplished opener and Cook has played more at 3?

I'd be tempted to take Pedro Collins instead of Fidel Edwards. He bowled beautifully this season, as did Jermaine Lawson, and in Taylor, Powell and Lawson, the pace ranks are covered. Collins offers control and swing - conventional and reverse. I would also be tempted to take Amit Jaggernauth instead of Dave Mohammed. Sounds like blasphemy, but it really isn't. Mohammed's batting would be handy though.

And my first XI would be:

Jerome Taylor is in really poor form right now, so Collins gets the nod ahead of him. Powell is bowling superbly and has good pace.
I'm not confident in picking 4 specialist bowlers, as none of them - bar Powell sometimes - can bat. So Bravo will have to step up, with Samuels and Gayle coming into play too. For a spin-friendly surface, Jaggernauth in for the least performing of the seamers.

Anderson would be a better bet as a Test bowler than Broad at the moment. Vaughan is a pretty good Test batsman, and an exceptional captain, he should be playing.

I still feel even though Taylor has had a very poor WC it would be extremely harsh to drop him from the test side considering the West Indies do not have very good fast bowlers.Taylor and Collymore would be my two shoe ins as fast bowlers.I would also pick Dave Mohammed and ask Bravo to bat at 6 as I feel he has real potential with the bat.A test line up including Powell and Collins in a 4 man attack would be much too risky IMO.My WI X1 would look something like this...
