Swerves - If you just add 'In 20/20' in your siggy, it will not make me look like a fool or atleast less of a fool :)

"In 20/20, There really is no difference between say a Sachin Tendulkar and Ronnie Irani. There is no difference between a Shaun Pollock and a Ricki Clarke'

hahaha..sanz my friend ..where would the fun be in that:laugh:

Get rid of Fletcher,Vaughan (As Odi Skip) and Graveney.

Mahmood, Vaughan, Nixon and Panesar Also Dalrimpyle, should have their ODI Careers ended

Questions have to be asked over players like Anderson, Flintoff, Strauss, Joyce

Bell, Broad,Bopara, Collingwood and Pietersen should have the side bulit round them

But quite simply there is not much talent in English cricket because the system is wrong, the One day comps are boring No one cares and there is only a few knockout rounds.

This has to be changed..... Starting with Appointing Tom Moddy as coach, Bell as ODI Skipper and Willis as Chairman

Plain stupid to be honest.

Some England fans don't want to play ODI cricket.

That's different to the country at large not wanting to.
I meant "England" as in the ECB and its representative team.

Time and again ODI series are used to blood young players to see if they might be good enough for the Test side. To me, that equates to not caring for ODI cricket to the point of not wanting to play it. As long as this attitude persists, England will always be lousy at LO cricket. Which, as you say, is a slap in the face of all those cricket fans who love nothing better than a pyjama party.

One of the few reasonable posts I've seen regarding the issue.

Some good points, although Joyce should be added to the first, scrapheap list.

Willis would make for the best appointment but as he isn't an arselicking, spineless, yes man....so they'd never give him a role as, much like myself he isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers and tell it how it is.

Time and again ODI series are used to blood young players to see if they might be good enough for the Test side. To me, that equates to not caring for ODI cricket to the point of not wanting to play it. As long as this attitude persists, England will always be lousy at LO cricket. If you replaced the folks at The ECB with someone else, the chances are their replacements would do the same thing. It's not to do with "who cares about ODIs", it's to do with "he looks promising (often in the First-Class game), give him a go, and given that there's only places up for grabs in the ODI side give him a go there, after all your best Test players HAVE to be your best ODI ones, so picking someone who can't play LO cricket to save his life can't possibly be a bad idea".

Well, not quite, but you get the picture.

It has more to do with the lack of understanding about the difference between the games than any lack of care about the shorter one.

But he's actually made a reasonable point.
He often does, ITBT. He just can't help but entangle his good points with agenda-driven rubbish, trolling, extremely OTT bias, insulting other members and thinking Afridi is a good player (the worst offence of them all, FTR.)

Andre is apparantly a very calm man off the field.I can't imagine it though:laugh:.That Sreesanth nonsense just made me cringe TBH.

Yes, S went completely over the top IMO. It's all well and good giving a bit back but that was just crazy.

Apparently S is an incredibly polite, deferential young man off the field too, though.

TBH Nel ain't that bad.I'll be surprised if he does something as stupid and inappropriate as what Sreesanth did.The thing I like about Nel is that he usuallly has a laugh and giggle after his staring nonsense after so he obviously enjoys his cricket.I have the upmost respect for him because IMO he is a damn good fast bowler and a competitor and fighter.Andrew Hall and Nel are both excellent cricketers and I wouldn't be surprised if Nel takes a fair few wickets for Essex this season.

Haha. I've always liked Nel and have certainly always rated him very highly as a bowler. But he too has gone OTT once or twice. I hope S might calm down a bit as he plays a bit more, TBH.

Richard any views on the possible test side for the 17th.I would personally go with this side if Trescothick isn't available.

Strauss
Cook
Vaughan
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Flintoff
Read
Hoggard
SP Jones
Panesar

Knowing the selectors I'm pretty much 100% certain that Harmison will be in the line up if he is fit and taking wickets... even though his form in the last year has been very poor.

I'd probably have Collingwood up 2 places, given that Pietersen prefers the five to the four slot.

Otherwise the same - with the no-Trescothick presumption. If he managed to convince enough people he was in a fit state, him instead of Cook.

When did Pietersen state that he prefered 5 to 4?..Pietersen for a guy with his ability should not be coming in any lower than 4.You saw what happened to him in Australia when he batted 5?.He was in with 9,10 and jack when he was on about 40.

That was with a rubbish lower-order. There is the genuine prospect of our lower-order being much stronger (not the mention more coming from the rest of the top-order) and hence Pietersen could quite conceivably achieve a hell of a lot batting five.

I can't think of the exact time when he said he was happy at five, but people criticised it of course, as they did with just about everything they could get their hands on. People will do a lot to get away from the truth that Australia were better than England.
