Greg Chappell: I won't resign.

Whatever it takes!!!
In times of trouble, panic is indeed a preferable option.

nope.... but at least show these guys that what they did was wrong and punish them for it?

The thing in India is, no one takes anything seriously unless threaten them with punishment for not doing it.

Maybe, maybe...

Dropping all those players just seems like a panic measure from where I'm standing, though - I just can't get away from that.

Yeah, me too.

Never heard of that chap before - might start reading a bit more of his stuff. :thumbup1:

Basically exactly how I feel about this issue. I for one am glad that Chappell's tenure is over, and I think that Indian cricket will only be the better for it.
Yup, good article. I've always felt Greg didn't have the makings of a good coach. He could be a genius when it comes to cricket, but if he can't communicate his genius effectively, then he's going to be a miserable failure. The coach must be able to build relationships with his players and must not be a divisive force in the dressing room. Chappell's personality does not seem well-suited to be a successful coach.

Now Greg Chappell is like a lose cannon he might really expose Indian cricketers and its system now, he might come up with a book very soon with some shocking revelations.

But i still am amazed why Chappell said that he won't resign [earlier], because everyone knew [including him] that his days with Indian cricket were numbered after India's pathetic showing at the WC .

They underperformed severely in one game - hardly 'pathetic'.

Dropping all the players would be silly...considering that we cant replace them all TBH! But, certain players need to be dropped IMO...i.e Harbhajan for example....i'd much rather prefer another spinner in the team....i just dont like bhajji anymore for a reason ( but probably will as soon as he gets wickets again)

Powar > Bhajji IMO....but fitness wise he is a problem and HE himself doesnt want to lose weight or anything...so technically, he shouldnt be picked!

Mukul Kesavan is one of the best writers on cricket I have read over the years. Surprised you haven't heard of him before. He has written some gems over the years and I hope you relish his pieces in the future.. :)

Sadly I don't read every good writer going around.

Oi, P, BTW, what's your Skype?

Oh... yeah, on that subject, what's the deal with your MSN(s)? You've had 2 for aaaaaaages. Are both still active?

And BTW, Mukul is not a serious cricket writer. He just watches cricket in his leisure time. So don't put too much worth on his views.

The very fact that he thinks those who believe that the seniors in the side were a problem are all Chappell's boys shows that.
Erm, if some one does not follow each match and every ball or writes lesser, that does not mean much or that his views are lesser if he elucidates why he feels the same. Some of the pieces of Kesavan I have read are the best pieces of cricket writing I have read.
