Wilshere and Currie seal easy win
Cricket Web Blue Preseason Cricket
A calm partnership between Ben Wilshere and Matt Currie secured victory for the Camps XI, as they followed another fine bowling performance with a well-timed chase. Travis Demeza and Liam Camps jr. took 3 wickets apiece and the Fuller XI could manage only 202-7 in their 50 overs.
Pete Young was the key player, and his 64 was the centrepiece of the innings. Captain Sean Fuller was the other major runscorer, but his 47 came at a quicker pace. But Luke Ronchi scored 26 from 24 balls to ensure that his team got past the 200 mark. All the Camps XI seamers finished with good figures, but Currie and DeSilva struggled to supply the role of the fifth bowler.
With the bat it was Thamba Mamesh who dominated the runchase. After taking his time in compiling his half-century, Mamesh cut loose with 3 consecutive boundaries against Ryan Dunn. Though he was out immediately after to Nathan Hauritz, the Camps XI were well on pace to victory.
Even as Dunn snared Jack Ullungura for 8, the score setting of 141-4 meant that Camps' men were still well on course. Wilshere and Currie played conservatively at the outset, but the latter ensured some dominance toward the close of the game. Currie chipped down the wicket and launched Gooljar over long-on, stamping authority on his the claims of his fellow spinner.

Ever composed and capable, Pete Young is one of the most accomplished players in the history of Dev League cricket. Young boasts almost 13500 runs in first-class cricket and will be a crucial part of whatever success Cricket Web Blue achieves in that arena. And who knows, he may play a one-day game or two.
T Mamesh
When Thamba Mamesh is not representing the Cricket Web XI, he will form one half of the most exciting first-class opening partnership in Development League cricket. His explosive style should go well alongside Young's classical strokeplay, and he will look to establish the CW Blue top order as the powerhouse of its challenge.
BJ Goff
The CW XI captain has come a long way as a batsman in recent years. Growing from strength to strength as a healthy strokeplayer, Goff will be expected to dominate in both forms of the game, holding down the crucial position of number 3.
BL Wilshere
Having sat out last season, Wilshere returns in Blue colours and will seek to recapture the form that made him such an important batsman two seasons ago. Wilshere was a left-handed revelation down the order and played a counterattacking role in one-day game. In first-class cricket he will be expected to bat higher up the order and hold the middle order together with a more conservative anchor role.

One of the most respected players in Dev League cricket, Sean Fuller will serve another season as deputy to Liam Camps jr. Fuller reliably gives his all with the bat and ball and will be expected to build on encouraging offseason performances. The Blue vice-captain will be expected to play a more central batting role in first-class cricket, and will be the first choice to partner Young at the top of the order when Mamesh is on Test duty. Fuller will also look to breakthrough with the ball in one-day cricket, where he struggled greatly to establish himself as a genuine allrounder.

The captain has come under fire for not bowling himself more often in Dev League cricket, but Liam Camps jr. is once again expected to play a conservative role in the CW Blue plans. Camps has had mixed fortunes as a player in recent seasons, but it will be his captaincy that bears the main focus, as he was outperformed by Sean Fuller in that regard at times last season. Especially in one-day cricket, Camps will expectedly play a big role with the ball.

A Crampton
Though still searching to establish himself as a first-class cricketer, Alex Crampton will be a central figure for Cricket Web Blue this year. Crampton's attractive and energetic batting adds flair to the batting lineup and his influence in the one-day lower order is invaluable. With the gloves he has been reliable and will hope to carry his Cricket Web XI experience into effect in the domestic game. Now one of the experienced heads of the team, Crampton will also serve as mentor to the younger squad members.
MJC Currie
Now that Tom Halsey has left, Matt Currie will be the central spin force for the Blues this year. In addition to his economical and effective left-arm spin, Currie will also add strength to the lower order with his improving batting.
GS Gooljar
He may start the season as second string to Currie, but for Gareth Siva Gooljar this will not be a deterrant. Gooljar has struggled to seal a first XI spot throughout his career, but not for lack of effort. Now he sees himself in competition with one of the rising spin talents in CWLand, and will hopefully keep Currie sharp.
TJ Demeza
Two things can be counted as certain when Travis Demeza is involved - controversy and pace. Leading an eager pace attack with a keen mix of experience and youth, Demeza will be used in a typically attacking role and will hopefully rattle the helmets of the best of the Dev League this coming season. Whether or not he can finally bring his first-class form into the limited overs game remains to be seen though.
AAA Collins
Since being labeled a left-arm spinner by captain Liam Camps jr., Adam Collins has added a quarter-yard of pace to his game. He remains the most accurate of bowlers in Dev League cricket, though that predictability may continue to serve as his downfall in one-day cricket, where his chances may again be limited. However, he remains one of a handful of certain starters in the first-class team.
RGEWS Cribb
Cribb has been one of the most loyal servants to CW Blue. Despite never emerging as a frontline player, he's continued to commit himself entirely to the team's cause. Always the team man and a brilliant fielder, Cribb should get more opportunities with the bat this season, as the Blues look for someone to replace Andrew Cloete at the top of the order in one-day cricket.
