Yep it's really good that we bounced back from that disappointing result to Bangladesh. The fact that we were defending the target was even better because we haven't really done that recently.

I think the spinners will be important in this Cup and the fact that we put on 285 against Sri Lanka is fairly positive.

Let's all have our fingers crossed for Fulton as he is really developing some nice form at the moment. I also hope Gillespie makes it back because Tuffey could be a liability right now.

Favourites ..... that's a load of bull..
Definitely not after this result...

Favouritism tag is usually a kiss of death.... and IMO no single team of the top 8 is a favourite bar Australia ....
Of course SL are one of the favourites, they are at least 3rd Favs after Oz and SA IMO

....

KMDN Kulasekara run out 5 0 0 0 0 -
SL Malinga run out 1 0 0 0 0 -
Extras (b 4, lb 5, w 13, nb 9) 31

Total (all out; 50.2 overs) 267

Looks like we even gave Sri Lanka two extra deliveries to win

Great result for the aussies yesterday, they won by 5 wickets and 55 balls to spare chasing England's 197.

Most of the things went right for the Aussies yesterday, guys like Tait,Clark and Hogg all picked wickets and bowled well and with the bat too Gilly made a superb comeback with a good 72 runs, Watson also scored 55 and shared an opening partnership worth 140 with Gilly.

All in all a great game for the aussies.

good stuff Aussies

Watto's 4th consecutive 50 as opener for Aus... i think when Roy comes back and if Hayden doesnt do too well... Watto could become opener... hmmmm

then again i back Hayden to bash the minnows...

i just think Watto as opener is so much better than #7

Gilchrist
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hodge
Hussey

or

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hussey
Watson

or

Gilchrist
Hayden
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hodge
Hussey

i think i prefer option #1 the most.. batting lineup is stronger i think with #3 but Watto's bowling and Symo's bowling will be really handy in #2

Looks like the South Africans haven't been able to digest their #1 ranking because their are looking far from being a #1 ranked side atm.

After almost being throughly tested by Ireland the other day, now they have lost to Pakistan that too by 7 wickets.

Great win for Pakistan, to restrict the Proteas to such a small total with their depleted bowling attack was really a commendable effort by them.

The former. I'd thought that was pretty obvious.

IMO Hogg played infinately the biggest part in the turnaround - the other seamers, McGrath excepted, had been decidedly poor earlier on, and did better when they came back later with the "soft underbelly" to bowl at. They have Hogg to thank for that.
Yep, agreed. Hogg got the big breakthroughs, then Clark and Tait just capitalised. Given though, they could have just released all the pressure and bowled absolutely rubbish like Watson and Johnson did in the CH series, mind you...

I didn't think Tait was that bad. Sure, he sprays it around, but he got it right for the most part and caused trouble.

Fulton breaks litte finger on his left hand

Not much info there. If you are going to break a finger as a rh batsman then that's the one.

Good to see he smashed 3 sixes in a quickfire fifty. I would leave out Styris for this game and look to give him some game time against the minnows to reach some form......though I have a funny feeling Styris will play due to his history and his bowling.

EDIT: Radio sport says his right-hand

Shame about Fulton. It was only his little finger, but being broken you would have to think he will be out for at least a couple of games.

I suppose it will intially solve the selection problem of chosing between Fulton, Styris and McMillan in the middle order.

From all reports, Fulton looked as much at ease as any of the batsmen today and probably would have made the starting side against England.

So the four teams which have won both of their warm up matches are India , Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, England, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Ireland have won one of their matches.

Scotland, Bermuda, Canada and Netherlands have lost both their warm up matches.

He barely made 20 runs, had a horrible time. Batted 7 in the semi vs. Aus actually, with Sanga batting 6. How times have changed.
