Hussey getting all the blame? What I noticed was that he never had any senior players around him offering suggestions, etc.
There isn't any senior players left :p

Though Cam White is supposed to be a good captain, so he should have been in his ear.

McGrath bowled pretty well today IMO. His two overs at the death weren't that great, but the game was more or less over by then. Turned the game back Australia's way in his second last spell, and bought Watson a wicket with a great over.

He couldn't have done much more at the death with Hussey leaving the field back. Even good yorkers could be dug out for singles.

Great chase by NZ today. Taylor and Fulton were sensational, and McMillan more or less won the game when it was in the balance. If he'd been caught early on it might not have gone the same way, and the guy deserves a lot of credit. Must be hard as a NZ fan to see performances like that from him and then utter crap for ages. Hogg obviously bowled pretty poorly, though you couldn't have expected him to keep it tight on that ground in the late overs, and generally the fielding was lacking and the bowling wasn't particularly good aside from McGrath and Watson at times, and Bracken with the new ball.
Taylor continues to make a name for himself, if he keeps this sort of form up he could have a really big WC, as could Vincent.

Bracken seems to have picked a very bad time to lose form. He started the CB series so well and seems to have fallen away steadily since then.

Tait went wicketless... though i hope he gets another game to see if he can do anything. I think hes the only Aussie bowler over there at the moment who could rip through NZ. I think Hodge or Hussey himself might bowl before White next game too. Terrible terrible stuff.

Was good to see Haddin get a few today, played some great shots and built the innings back up after the openers failed again.

The fielding i think was always going to be abit lacking when you are missing probably 4 out of your best 5 fielders (and thats not counting Gilchrist). Jaques fielding is very poor though.

Tatit should look to bowl a lot of yorkers, with his pace, he could get loads of wickets. Not every ball as it can be predicatable, but especially at the death.

Yep, I was thinking it seemed much easier for the NZ batsmen without Clarke and Symonds patrolling the off-side

He does try to bowl a great deal of yorkers, the only thing is that its slightly down leg and with his pace it can be really risky.

Australia have grave problems defending large totals, and it is very worring. Doesn't matter what bowling attack you got or what ground the game is being played on, you should be able to defend 336 about 999/1000 but Australia in the last year have lost 3 after posting large totals and have come very close in failing to defend two other large totals.

I don't think 336 was that much better than par on that pitch/ground to be honest. It was a close to perfect batting strip that didn't slow up, and with the small boundary's and strange angles I think 300-310 was about par and I didn't think it would be that easy to defend.

Without wishing to dwell too much on the negative, its ashame Bracewell and co can't reverse their decision to include Tuffey in the WC squad. If only they had known he would be so far off the mark. Mill's (injury), Martin, Oram (injury), Mason and even Franklin would all be better bowling options.

This win feels great, but personally I would have the 1st game ranked above the 2nd. It's quite an acheivement for our bowlers in that first game whereas we have chased down very big totals before.

Patel or Franklin would have been better options than either McMillan or Fulton today. We have stacked the batting too much, to the detriment of the bowling. Fleming decision to bowl first doesn't seem too clever either
Superb, ftr.

BARNES OUT
My side for the 3rd game would be:

Code:
Hayden
Watson
Haddin+
Hussey*
Hodge
White
Voges
Johnson
Bracken
Tait
McGrath
Tait and Johnson are going to the WC and need bowling. I realise Hogg does too, but he's played both games, whereas Tait's played one and Johnson none. Law of averages for mine. Watson needs some time in the middle and hopefully he'll get it opening (though Bond could have something to say about that). Voges may as well have a game and despite everyone making valid points about Jaques never getting a good run, he's not going to the WC and he's played some atrocious roles so far in the series.
