Great to see Styris back in the batting line-up, hopefully to slot in at 5, not to mention his safe hands and underated medium pacers.

What a horribly impotent run chase. They didn't start chasing until the tail got out and the RRR was over 10.
It looks like the only thing they want is to go home, and they can't stand the thought of having to be there for one more week to play the finals.

Tbf, Joyce and Bell weren't doing too badly. It's after Bell's mind lapse that things went bent.

Good game for NZ, but i was totally impressed with Nixon's batting abilites. England should take the positives out of that match to have a last crack at australia in their next match.

They're still the second best test team in the world. Wouldn't get too carried away.

Horrible ODI side though.
Can't argue about your 2nd point, and I wish a few of them would get carried as far away as poss.

Not convinced by the first bit though, whatever the league table may say. I suspect SA, Pakistan, India & England are much of a muchness, and not in a good way. Thinking about it, you could probably throw SL into that mix as well.

NZ should be concerned about their fielding performance. There have been a couple of good periods but overall their fielding in this series has been well below par. The stuff they were upto in the last 10-odd overs of this game would have meant DOOM against Australia.

Also, Bond has not been great this series. Not bad per se, but pretty average. And his pace is down. And another thing, Franklin is a twit, Mills and Gillespie are far better than him. Mills in particular needs as much play as possible, because he's been a much improved bowler in the last year and a half or so.

Agreed, having said that Mcgrath and White hardly set the world on fire with their fielding in the last match. Amazing how many catches have been spilt by all 3 sides in these 2 games at Perth.

I would bet that all those teams would beat England very convincingly right now, they are second by default only.

I have to say that England's ODI team are performing like the Minnows of world cricket. In fact, come the world cup, I wouldn't be suprised if Kenya and Canada beat them, not one bit. In fact, I would like to see the odds for those two games, could potentially gain a lot of cash.

Very convincingly would surprise me, although I suppose we'll find out about India soon enough. I think they're closer than you make out, and none of them are truly convincing with either bat or ball. But I wouldn't be surprised if SA win well in England next year, unless we reconstruct our pace attack pdq.

Better put your money there then!

Way over the top. The problem for the minnows is that they never face bowling faster than 80mph if that. Genuine pace will be their undoing. Having said that, Kenya in 2003 form might run them close.

A lot of its about confidence. Kenya will be up for it and england just seem like they want a break. Im definitely putting money on kenya. Canada have no chance, just not good enough at the associate let alone top tier level.

England started ok but once again their middle-order didn't click. Liam plunkett and Ed joyce were the only positives for england. Nixon should bat more often like he did today. But all said and done i am sorry to say england are almost out of the tournament.

Hey whats wrong with Vincent why is he calling aussies arrogant. He has specially targeted symonds, give me a break symo is anything but arrogant, he is one of nicest blokes going around. Vincent got mad when a throw from symo to gilly just missed him by inches, and he thinks it was deliberate.

Horrible match. Pretty poor quality cricket from both sides. It was like watching a club game.
Heard this comment time after time about NZ vs England games from Australians. Must be some pretty awesome club cricket going on in Australia!

Tell me.....is the Australian bowling attack as poor as England's? Because they were hit for more runs.

English Extras (lb 12, w 22, nb 3)
Australian Extras (b 2, lb 5, w 18, nb 2)

Sure NZ's catching was poor, but the game was already lost. Seems to me NZ are playing well again, surely better than any 'club' team ever in the history of game.

The bowling was erratic from both teams, mainly England, the fielding was below first-class standard and the batting was at times reckless with some stupid running between the wickets. I expect these things from club games, not a match between 2 top 10 international cricket teams.

But if you think NZ are playing well....good for you. I can tell you there are plenty of areas they need to improve in before I consider them to be "playing well"

Well where do England go from here? Juts one win on tour and no signs of any change. What do they do? Stick with the team, make radical changes, live in hope?
