Mal Loye is so hopeless outside off stump. Every single innings he's played in this series has been a repeat of the same thing. Leaves a few balls, manufactures a couple of shots against length balls and hits them for six or four, gets a reasonable delivery moving across him and gets out.

You'd think he'd never faced a left-armer before.

So what’s the gameplan here then, wait until the run rate reaches 8 an over then start the downfall. Ed Joyce better ****ing do something, Simon Katich would be proud.

I'm not sure if this was possible, but I was wondering how Derek Pringle had left the media box, headed down to the England dressing room and somehow fit into Tremlett's skin for a lazy 50 overs in the field.

Joyce and Bell starting to play pretty well now, hoping for a breakthrough soon.

Can anyone explain to me again what Jamie Dalrymple brings to the English team? Apart from a batting average of 8 and bowling average of 114 from all 6 games England have played in this series ? What am I missing?

Ha, is he still getting ridiculed for that? West Ham supporter?...(please don't say Leyton Orient)
No it's just that a lot of people actually believe we talk like that and no I don't support West Ham, thank goodness.

I said it before the series that alongside Paul Collingwood, his England's most outrageously average cricketer. Had a few decent performances last summer with the bat but I can't remember him making too many runs in winning causes and he was simply awful with the ball today.

Ed Joyce looks pretty good at the moment. I kept wondering why England kept persisting with him. Hopefully he makes a decent score.

Not much of a field either and can't throw at all. Come on England selectors, surely there are some cricketers with much more talent going around in county cricket?!

Decent partnership building here

This question has been bugging me, is the song that is played when Symonds comes into bat or bowl is by Evermore?

His form is horrible - dire really. However, he saved England from a few collapses in the past with the bat with some very fine knocks down the order, and his bowling was about 10 times better than the tripe he has served up in this series (barring the first match where I thought he was impressive with the ball.)

I think one of his main problems is the fact that his role in the side is no longer one he is actually good at. Batting at 7 or 8 and playing as the second spinner isn't really his go. He should be in the top 6 (preferably 5 IMO) or not at all, and he really should be bowling a lot more than he is (although, given, his bowling hasn't really inspired the captain to use him much in this series). I'd definitely have Collingwood batting 7 - he has done well in the finishing role for England in the past and looks a lot less convincing in the top order. Dalrymple and Flintoff could alternate between 5 and 6 depending on the situation.

I'm backing him to come good really. I like his character, his mental resolve and his allround skill.
