The Aussies finally relishing a chance to bat first and make a big one - good chance for a 320+ score here.

Extraordinary innings from Hayden today though, kinda like watching a guy who hasn't picked up a bat in the off-season. They kept tossing up the watermelons, he kept mis-hitting it, but they seemed determined not to dismiss him. Really felt like god was watching over him from the stands. To be fair though, he certainly looked a LOT better since he got to the ton, and at least he was attacking throughout, can't fault the intent at all.

NZ clearly looking to emulate their shambolic Sydney performance in the field. Goes without saying that dropping Hayden on zero and four has been very, very costly.

BTW, some of McCullum's "catch it!" calls are quite surreal.

Well it's just the fact that yu are critisizing someone who has just scored a good century. While it may not go down as a very good innings it was a good innings and he deserves credit for taking it. I juts swore because i found the post rather ridiculous.
Criticising someone who has scored a hundred shows a lot more confidence in your opinion of a player than just rocking up JustTool style and bagging them when they fail.

In any rate, I didn't criticise him. I said "Well done to him." I merely stated that your assessment of it being a "very good innings" was wrong IMO. As I said, a hundred is a hundred so well done to him. I just don't think it was a "very good innings" as you claimed.

Yesterday i just posted the fact that none of the aussie top 3 try to bat through the 50 overs. And today they have just done that. PONTING GETS HIS 21 CENTURY!!

Yeah, terrible hundred alright when everyone's baying for your blood and you come out and score more than a run-a-ball century. Terrible century alright 8-)

Absolutely brilliant innings from Ponting. Looked fantastic from the first ball he faced, and hardly played a bad shot, let alone gave a chance.

Thought Taufel's calling for clarification from the third umpire (after asking Rauf) on the Hayden appeal for caught when he hit it into the ground was both excellent umpiring and good use of the technology. I like his putting of the game first over his own opinions, given from memory he's really not a fan of using the third umpire for anything besides run-outs.

Ton up for Punter - excellent innings.

That's Clarke. Hussey in now?

edit; Hmm, Symonds. Guess there's enough time for him to get in anyway.

Well played innings for both Ponting and Hayden. Punter's has been flawless and no chances been given.
