With 2 power plays still left i think fleming is asking for trouble. I think if all goes well they can even think of 400+.
That would be quite surprising for a team going at 4.9 after 22 overs.

NZ need to restrict Aus to under 270-280, then we have a chance....
Even then our top order will probably fail :(

In games like this against Aus you need to take early wickets....they usually make a comeback and get 250. We should have had a better start but alas, catches win matches.

It's a difficult wicket to score quickly on I think. Obviously 300 is on the cards if the spinners don't take wickets and one of Australia's hitters gets going in the late overs, but NZ have a reasonable chance to restrict Australia to 250-260, which is chasable against a team with no spin options.

Though of course, if I was putting money on it, I'd probably back Australia by 100 runs in a similar situation to the one you described.
Obviously it isn't the easiest to score on but Australia are in a completely dominant position and Ponting is set...

260 would take a huge comeback

Getting hammered now. We really need a match turning spell.

Kyle Mills, I'm looking in your direction. No, don't pick your nose. Wait, maybe that will make the ball swing. Goober it up, Millsy!

50 for Hayden. Hardly his best innings ever but a pretty important one for him.

Where are all you Aussie's calling for Hayden's head now?
Right here. He never should have been recalled in the first place, and that'd still be true if he'd played brilliantly today. As it is, he hasn't really, and should have been out early on. If he goes on to make a big score that's fine, but he shouldn't be in the team and I rather Vettori had taken that catch.

Well it has been a while since Ponting has got a 100 by his lofty standards, so I guess today has to be today.
