New Zealand have very serious problems. Bracewell has got the mix of the lineup completely wrong. Vettori is barely a ODI 8, let along a 7, McMillan is (in all honesty) obese and a liability when it comes to running and the time has come to end the McCullum experiment. How many more runs might New Zealand have scored had McCullum been batting down the order with the tail, rather than throwing his wicket away against the new ball?
They'll be helped by the return of Oram and Scotty, but until then there need to be changes.

Even then that side has serious limitations, and I'm extremely nervous about exposing both of our most experienced batsmen to the new ball. And I know, that's VERY harsh on Patel, but we do need 3 seamers to navigate the first 20 overs and have something left for the death. And the batting is a shambles, and we need to bolster it with something, even something as unsubstantial as Hamish Marshall. We'll be able to bring Patel back into the side once Scotty and Oram are back. Franklin bats at no. 7 for his province, and if he wants a show of keeping his spot in the team once the regulars come back, he's gonna have to prove he can win games with bat as well as ball. If he comes in early enough, then I'd be tempted to bat him above McCullum, to give him a bit of time to bat himself in. Bats above Vettori, as seems better at coping with the pressures of ODI cricket.
