We cannot go into another test with this fielding side. We simply cannot.
This is why I've been vouching for Gambhir and Yuvraj. People underrate the importance of top-class fielders in tests until they see the guys who play for us. Now, Sehwag is actually a good fielder so he's not an issue. Jaffer and Ganguly are mediocre but it's hard to drop them if they score runs. Munaf is dreadful and really needs work but he's one of our top options with the ball at the moment. Who do you drop?

Fortunately, the Indian side should be stronger in the field in years to come. Fielding has only become important in India in the last five years or so. Pretty much all of the batting and bowling prospects are top-class fielders. For example, Ravindra Jadeja and Shahbaz Nadeem, the two best left-arm spin prospects, both field at point for their domestic sides.

Munaf and VRV are the two issues that we need to deal with.

SA doing exactly what India did, lose wickets just when they can start punishing the bowling team and are well on top.

India could use any lead here, so if they can get them all out with a lead of 25-40 runs, it'll just open up a window of opportunity.

Well India in the second innings = not fun. India to be all out by tea tomorrow and SA only have to chase a powder puff target of 140?

Don't rule it out just yet. India has to bat smart in the 2nd innings.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This test has been like a finely balanced see-saw which never quite goes either way.

I guess either of the teams will have very little of leads.
So in both the cases india have to bat for atleast 3 sessions to save this match.

Yeah true, let's just hope it doesn't happen. :)

That's why every run as a lead is vital.

And Kumble just bowls Steyn. Woo.

Yep, to be perfectly honest, this test match should have been dead and buried. It should already be certain to be a boring draw, but both teams have batted so crap at times that its still alive. Can still go either way, even though draw is still likely.

Btw, anyone genuinely laugh their ass off when Robin Jackman suggest around 90mins ago that SA would be better off giving away a lead of 100 then drawing level, as it'd give them more chance of winning the game?
