Graeme Hick appointed Australian batting coach

Didn't half of the Australian cricket media laugh at Mark Ramprakash's appointment back in 2014? So good. The cricket media are already dumb ****s but they look even worse now.

I look forward to Hick's lengthy discourse on getting the most out of your batting talent at the highest level.

No one's saying he's the mental skills coach, right?

Anyone with 40,000 FC runs probably has a reasonable idea of how to go about it. He's been on staff with Australia, toured with them etc so let's presume Darren Lehmann is reasonably comfortable with his coaching ability.

This appointment will doubtless help Australia's batsmen dominate in the County matches on the next Ashes tour.

Langer was a good batsman who performed on the big stage and he stank as batting coach tbf

Boof just had another press conference to confirm the appointment of Eddie Hemmings as team dietitian.

Yeah, seemed pretty sensible to me

Can see where the whole insular 'jobs for the boys' thinking gains ground. As soon as Australia try something different they get mocked for it.

Aus are going to be playing in England 3 times over the next 3 years. Hicks knowledge of the conditions and grounds are going to be very useful to them. Smart appt I'd say.

Mainly because some of the Australian cricket media is woeful in that sense, as are the casual fans.

Lehmann getting early success just cemented this further.

So he's got a load of FC runs. Also, from one series in India that ended with a century and a 50 he may be being backed as a real thinker on batting against spin.
