I wanted to start a thread on Pakistan cricket news and views. We can vent on the latest act of PCB’s incompetence here, as well as read about which current International Airport Mohammad Asif was detained at.
I’ll start things off by posting the excellent article below. As we all know, no one wants to tour Pakistan. My personal opinion is that the Western teams are being highly hypocritical in their stands, but it is what it is. As much as it pains me, I have come to accept that non-Asians teams will not be touring Pakistan in the near future. So what to do now? As the author points out below, PCB can continue to wage a losing battle and try to schedule home series at..home. They’ll most likely fail and Pakistan would play at most 2 to 5 Test matches a year against Asian teams, if that. Pakistan’s players will continue to decline in skills and would perpetually be in the lower tiers of world cricket. Or PCB could swallow the VERY bitter pill and schedule tests against non-Asian teams in neutral sites. England is obviously the most logical venue, considering the income and exposure it will generate. I would disagree with the author that even games against the Asian teams should be scheduled elsewhere. Pakistani fans DESERVE to watch some International cricket live. I would say Pakistan should continue to host those that are willing.
