Sky’s county coverage is far better than their international stuff. Allott and Willis are criminally underused and the likes of Graeme Fowler, David Houghton are a good listen - Even Bumble is good for a laugh with the domestic stuff. Just a shame about Nick Knight, who is the worst commentator around currently, makes Ian Healy sound impartial.

Pahaha, i suspect he's just not the same without that ridiculous amount of hardware and camera angles to help him out/make him look like he's running security for a casino. He still does a bit of analysis for channel 5 quite nicely, but it's extremely limited because it's just highlights.

Agree that the coverage is pretty good. And Bumble does know his county cricket pretty well.

I'm not a fan of either Allott (arrogant know-all) or Willis (wrist-slashingly depressing).

Ha, totally agree, Willis has always got this suicidal look about him. He does try to tell it like it is and does make the odd decent joke with the hilarity of the joke enhanced by his lack of facial expressions or any sort of feeling what so ever.

Haha i love Willis's rants. There's the classic someone has sigged- "Jesus Christ dies on a different day every year?!!" which he spoke, completely sour-beaked as per usual, when complaining about the school holiday system being bad for encouraging cricket.

When you consider that Willis couldn't even manage a smile after Headingley '81 it's hardly surprising - he can be entertaining but his general air of misery is too much for me

Comes out with some belters from time to time. Remember him talking about English spin and saying that the only good thing Phil Tuffnell ever did was in the jungle, had quite a rant about it.

I prefer tv to radio. I think a better question would be whether you prefer watching a match on tv or at the cricket ground? I have watched just two matches in a cricket stadium. One at the R. Premadasa, Colombo and another at the National Stadium, Karachi. Both experiences were less enjoyable than watching the match at home on the tele.

Willis on the evening Test highlights is hilarious. Even when he grudgingly hands out praise, you know there's a negative around the corner. Colville (who, I actually quite like, even if he is quite amateurish and pompous) seems to draw the 'best' (worst) out of him as well. One recent conversation, after the opening day at Chennai (when Cook and Strauss had put on 100+ together) can be summed up as follows.

Colville: [immediately after interview with Strauss] Well there you go Bob. Strauss and Cook looked comfortable out there together, even though Strauss hadn't played a first-class match for three months. Seeing as England usually make a mess of their warm-up games, perhaps they don't necessarily need proper practice before a Test?

Willis: Well, yes Charles, Cook and Strauss were excellent and showed little rustiness. However when England's bowlers come on to bowl tomorrow, their lack of match practice will be obvious. Fast bowlers have to get overs under their belt before a big game... etc etc etc
