Live Blogging From Kensington Oval — West Indies vs South Africa Day 3/Day 4

Day 4: Late Update for the day. The cricket is dire and The inevitable is being delayed by the resilient Shivnarine Chanderpaul. However I had an opportunity to talk to Ian Bishop. So it was worthwhile coming to the ground. As we speak West Indies are all aout for 161 with Shiv remaining Unbeaten on 71. 46 More runs for SA to get… Should be over fairly quickly…

It’s over folks. Albeit with a little drama. SA lost three wickets. There was some heated exchanges between Kallis and Roach. But SA emerge the winners 2-0..Chris Gayle Post match was interesting where he said he was enjoying the captaincy.. and plans to continue to captain this side.

It’s going to be a fascinating day’s play if West Indies can fight back. SA lead by just 54 runs and If WI could wrap up the innings in the 1st session. We could indeed have a Test match on our hands.. Watch for What AB and Suleimann Benn have to say after close of play Yesterday. Check out the pictures as well..In a few minutes…

There are about fifty spectators in the ground. The Media, Players and officials will outumber the spectators… Says a lot about the West Indian public’s disgust with the team… Watched the SA practice close catches and the West Indians bowl a few… 20 Minutes to start of play…

Gibson had a long chat with his bowlers… Not sure what it was about.. But seems like he wants them to bowl well. oh well…

An eventful thirty minutes you have to say.. West Indies could have had two wickets.. Prince was given a reprieve by the umpire taufel and ramdin makes a hash of an easy chance… This could hurt the Windies… This could hurt them seriosly… Having said that the umpiring in this Test has been rather mediocre. Too many decisions given wrong.. Are these umpires accoutable at all?

Ashwell Prince is the most unattractive cricketer I have ever seen. He does not have a trademark shot. He is so ugly looking not flamboyant.. and slow to boot.. As soon as I finished typing that. Ashwell played an outrageous pick up shot over midwicket for four.. HAHA

Finally West Indies get a break through Ramdhin makes amends. Bouch run out.. West Indies should look to wrap this up quickly. now..Meanwhile in Footbal Big match coming up this afternoon Brazil vs Chile… Holland are leading Slovakia 1-0

Play about to resume in 5 minutes and West Indies are just one wikcet away from batting again. However the topic of discussion in the press box seems to be the Dale Steyn Spitting incident on Benn… It will be an interesting afternoon… South Africa Lead by 107 Runs. DeVilliers though Anything around 200 would be tough to get on the last day.. Can the WI mount such a challenge?

Ok. West Indies are folding at furious pace here.. Three down… Including the important wicket of Chris Gayle… Dale Steyn is bowling with such venom that he is virtually unplayable… Can they last the day is the big question now…. Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn are bowling absolutely fast.. It’s like watching the West Indian fastbowlers of yester year.. Sad thing is there is no one is the team that can play them as well…

Steyn Storm has blown well and truly over Kensington.. Shiv and Nash have arrested the bleeding of wickets for almost an hour here.. Shiv Played a superb cut shot that just speed to the boundary… West Indies trailing by 47 runs now…

Oh Well.. Six down and going down fast.. Looks like it will end today..25 overs remaining and an extra half an hour if SA opt for that…

Shiv is playing an absolute masterclass in this pitch that has fast become so helpful for the spinners. It’s a shame that others could not hang around him. The main culprits being Richards, Deo and Ramdhin… Now Dale Steyn is bowling at a scorching pace… to Shane Shillingford…

The cricket has been dire. But Shiv showing absolute commitment.. What a player… If only there were a few more who could have hung on with Shiv… The pitch is increasingly difficult to bat on and Shiv is letting everyone else know how to graft an innings here.
