SA Pull Out of Pakistan

Thursday, September 25 2003

South Africa have pulled out of their scheduled tour to Pakistan, completing a back flip after 24 hours earlier declaring their availability.

Following a bomb blast in Karachi, the UCBSA felt that the safety of the players could no longer be ensured, thus sparking the decision to tour.

The cancellation means more financial lost for the Pakistan Cricket Board, who have suffered since the September 11 bomb blasts in 2001.

South Africa has become the latest nation to cancel Pakistan tours in a list that includes Australia, New Zealand and India.

Only Bangladesh has played a full series in Pakistan since 2001, completing the Test and ODI series with another loss yesterday.
