Batty dropped

Worcestershire's off-spinning all-rounder Gareth Batty has been dropped from England's squad for the third Test against South Africa at Trent Bridge. After the failures in the first two Tests, a number of uncapped players were brought in to strengthen the team. There has been much speculation about whether Batty would replace Ashley Giles as the teams spinner, however the selectors have stuck by the Warwickshire left-armer. Of the three new inclusions, Ed Smith is definite to play, and one of either Glen Chapple, or James Kirtley, who has been in the squad for all five Tests this year but is yet to make his debut, will play due to Darren Gough's retirement.
