Fleming innings beats Bears
Thursday, August 7 2003Stephen Fleming hit an amazing century as Yorkshire claimed an outstanding victory against Warwickshire. Having been set 274 to win, Yorkshire, batting under lights, reached the target with just less than seven overs to spare, with Fleming smashing 139 from just 104 deliveries. Warwickshire reached 273 for the loss of six wickets, with substantial contributions from Nick Knight, with 95, and Jim Troughton, with 77. Chris Silverwood and Tim Bresnan took two wickets each, however the impressive total seemed difficult to reach. On the other hand, Yorkshire lost just three wickets, as openers Fleming and Matthew Wood scored most of the runs. Wood was eventually bowled by Ashley Giles, having scored 65 off just 63 balls. However, despite contributions from Vaughan, Lumb and McGrath, Fleming stole the limelight with his superb innings.
