NCL D1 10th August
Monday, August 11 2003Glamorgan captain Robert Croft scored 70 to help his side to a seven-wicket victory over Warwickshire. Only Trevor Penney really contributed for the Bears, as they failed to make enough runs, scoring just 196, with Adrian Dale and Dean Cosker taking three wickets each. After Croft was bowled by Ian Bell, Matthew Maynard and David Hemp were left to reach the target, doing so with just over four overs to spare.
At Grace Road, Leicestershire beat Essex in an exciting last-over Duckworth-Lewis encounter. The visitors made 212-6, including a century from Andy Flower, however after several rain breaks, the Foxes were set a reduced target of 89 from sixteen overs. Needing eight, Darren Stevens was dismissed by Napier with the first ball of the last over, however Darren Maddy and Paul Nixon secured the victory with a couple of boundaries.
