Episode 2: Warne Sex Scandal
Sunday, August 10 2003Shane Warne's colourful career is again tonight embroiled in controversy following allegations of another sex scandal.
Warne, 33, has been accused by South African mother Helen Cohen Alon of sending raunchy text messages and launching numerous 'dirty' phone calls in her direction.
She also alleged she was offered 200 000 Rand, or 42 000 Australian dollars, to keep the relationship a secret from the public.
In defence of Warne, however, friends of the 45-year-old woman have alleged she chased after him at a party in the deliberate aim to cause him trouble and make money from the saga.
It is alleged that exchange of phone numbers occurred, and Warne invited her to a hotel room, where 'light kissing' was said to be the service.
Warne has denied the accusations.
He is no stranger to a sex scandal, having admitted to being involved with a British nurse in the year 2000 whilst playing for Hampshire.
The allegations were much the same - dirty phone calls and text messages.
These current allegations, however, seem even to far-fetched for Warne.
Happily married to Simone with two children, one would be surprised if he made the same mistake twice - and in such a public arena as a party.
Warne is also closely associated with controversies, so much to the extent that at times his career has been classed as a 'soap-opera'.
The former Australian ODI captain is currently serving a twelve-month ban for drug use.
The leg-spinner is currently seeking legal advice on his next steps in the process of self-defence. He has not ruled out legal action against the woman.
