Surrey reclaimed top spot in Division One of the National Cricket League after a comprehensive 66 run win over the pre match leaders Gloucestershire.
Surrey batted first after winning the toss and an aggressive 84 from only 61 deliveries by A Brown and 83 from 102 by M Ramprakash laid the foundations of the massive 297/6.
Surrey's middle order offered contributions including 36 from both G Thorpe and R Clarke. A quick fire 21 at the end by Azhar Mahmood pushed the score up to just short of the 300 mark.
All the Gloucestershire bowlers had a hard day at the office with M Alleyne particularly hard going for 64 in his 8 overs.
Gloucestershire chasing 298 to win at 6.6 an over were boosted by a typically aggressive knock of 85 from just 73 balls by New Zealander C Spearman.
Wickets then began to fall regularly and other than C Spearman nobody could score above 29, not helped by five run outs in the innings.
The Surrey bowlers had a much better day with young England all rounder R Clarke picking up 3/48 from his 9 overs.

Essex vs Glamorgan @ Chelmsford
N Hussain returned from one of his more forgettable weeks with England to lead his county side Essex to a massive 145 runs win over last years champions Glamorgan.
N Hussain opened the innings and blasted his way to a career best 161 not out in Essex's total of 298/5, N Hussian shared in a massive opening stand of 176 with Zimbabwean A Flower who himself hit 57.
D Cosker returned career-best figures of 5/54. The Glamorgan spinner broke the opening stand in his third over, and then briefly halted Essex's progress in a spell of 3-7 in 9 balls. But J Dakin came in to give N Hussain valuable assistance towards the end of the innings, as J Dakin clubbed 40 from 23 balls too steer Essex to their final total of 298/5.
Glamorgan innings would require something special from someone however it got of to the worse possible start as the 18 year old swing bowler T Palladino dismissed R Croft and M Powell in his opening over as Glamorgan slipped to 3-2.
M Maynard lead a brief fight back as he blasted his way to 50 from just 28 balls with 6 fours and 3 massive sixes, but shortly after reaching his fifty he was trapped leg before by G Napier. Three balls later D Hemp was bowled and then in G Napier's next over J Maher was caught by N Hussain as he attempted to hit over the top.
Despite a few lusty blows from M Kasprowicz, Glamorgan were eventually dismissed in the 27th over for 153, having lost their last 8 wickets in the space of just 15 overs.
