Rose signs for Surrey
Thursday, September 4 2003Former West Indies pacer, Franklyn Rose has signed for Surrey to replace Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq for the rest of the season. Saqlain is on international duty currently. The 31-yr old Jamaican pacer has played 19 Tests and 21 ODI's.
Rose has not represented the West Indies in three (3) years. In an ironic twist, he was dropped from the West Indies team after a very poor showing in England in 2000. Now he returns to England to resume his career.
Surrey coach, Keith Medylcott said that Rose would bring experience and quality to the bowling attack. Rose has 53 Test wickets to his name at just under 31 runs on average. He has previously played CC for Northamptonshire.
