Windies name U-19 squad
Tuesday, September 2 2003The West Indies U-19 squad to compete in the Red Stripe Bowl later on this year has been named. The squad consists of six (6) players of the double (OD and 3D) U-19 champions Trinidad and Tobago.
Denesh Ramdin, who won the batting and wicket-keeping awards in the recnently completed U-19 3-day tournament, lead the T&T group. He is joined by FC players Lendl Simmons and Ravi Rampaul as well as Tishan Maraj, Jonathan Agustus and Rishi Bachan.
Guyana and the Windward Islands are tied for second most selections, with four (4) each. For Guyana, Assad Fudadin, Zaheer Mohammed, Zamal Khan and Tyrell Tull have been called up. The Windward Islands will be represented by Craig Emanuel, Mervin Matthews, Jean Paul and the winner of the allrounder award in U-19 tournament, Liam Sebastien.
Despite having a disappointing tournament, Martin Nurse has been picked to lead the Bajan pack. He will be joined by Kirk Edwards and Barrington Yearwood. The squad is rounded off with Xavier Marshall and Krishmar Santokie of Jamaica and off-spinner Larry Joseph of the Leeward Islands.
