Great White Hope
Wednesday, September 3 2003In what looks set to be the most ambitious move on the Australian domestic scene in some time, Cameron White was today announced as the Victorian ING Cup captain.
White, a 20-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder, captained the Australian under-19 side to the World Cup trophy just 2 years ago.
He has a long list of credentials as a captain, from under-age sides to the Victorian Academy team as recently as last week.
He defeated highly-rated and more fancied rival, last summers vice-captain Brad Hodge to the post, taking over from Darren Berry.
Berry will stay on as skipper of the four-day side.
White has played just 12 domestic one-day matches.
