Thorpe Earns Recall

Graham Thorpe has been thrown an international lifeline by the English selectors, replacing Nasser Hussain in the English squad for the 5th Test against South Africa.
Also recalled to an expanded squad is Gareth Batty - adding a second spinner option for the notoriously flat Oval pitch. Ashley Giles remains ever-present in the squad.
With James Kirtley out injured, Martin Bicknell and Kabir Ali were both retained while Steve Harmison is also included.
Kent number 3 Ed Smith survived the axe (possibly because of Hussain's injury), as did James Anderson.
The match will be Alec Stewart's final Test match - fitting, at The Oval, the home of his beloved Surrey.
