ZONE A

Leeward XI VS. Windward Islands

A conscious effort from the Leewards XI's middle order saw them beat their Windward counterpart by a comfortable 5 wickets in their Zone A clash. Omari Banks took 3/55 from his 10 overs as the Windwards were held to just 206 runs in their 50 overs. Romel Currency (53) and Windies opener Devon Smith (38) added a quiet 71 runs for the first wicket, but only Darren Sammy (33) and captain Rawl Lewis (23) got past 18 runs.

The Leewards reply was initially shocking, as they lost 3 wickets for just 18 runs. The third to go was Runako Morton for 10. Fernix Thomas (2/47) and Cameron Cuffy (1/31) shared the 3 wickets. Stuart Williams and Tonito Willett then set about attacking the bowling and adding a quick 75 runs, before the former was out for 45. The score was at this time 93/4 and allrounder Carl Tuckett moved to the middle.

He and Willett added 78 runs before Willett was caught on the boundary for 55 off 75 balls - 171/5. From this point forward, there no scares as Banks and Tuckett took their team home with 5 overs to spare. Tuckett ended unbeaten on 71 off 100 with 6 fours and a six.

West Indies U-19 VS. UWI

Unbeaten fifties from Denesh Ramdin and Assad Fudadin saw the West Indies U-19 team home over the UWI XI by 7 wickets. After bowling out their opponents for 165, the Under-19's romped home in 33.4 overs. Ramdin struck the ball beautifully in scoring 77 not out off just 80 balls. The innings included 11 fours. He added 136 runs with Assad Fudadin to take the U-19 score from a shaky 30/3 to victory. Fudadin ended unbeaten on 53.

Earlier, Ravi Rampaul claimed 3/17 and Augustus, 2/3, as the UWI team were bowled out in 42 overs. Captain Philo Wallace was out for just 1 run, as they slumped to 23/3. However, Jason Haynes (42) and Maurice Clarke (32) ensured that they would go down fighting. Hibbert (28) and Nurse (21) also made notable contributions.
