Red Stripe Bowl : Day 7
Friday, October 10 2003ZONE A
Canada VS. Jamaica
Jamaica over-came a purposeful batting effort by their Canadian opponents to win comfortably by 6 wickets. Led by Don Maxwell's 65 off 85 balls (which included 5 sixes), Canada reached a respectable 196/7 off their 50 overs. Captain Ishwar Maraj also played well to score a correct 40 runs off 80 balls. For the Jamaicans, off-spinner Gareth Breese (2/22) and pacer Daren Powell (2/37) had the most success.
The Jamaican reply got off to a poor start as Parchment was bowled off his first delivery for nought. This brought Wavell Hinds to join Chris Gayle at the crease. Gayle (15) was out pulling a long-hop to midwicket and Hinds (45 off 30 balls) was caught on the boundary, to leave Jamaica at 68/3. Marlon Samuels and Ricardo Powell then set about to restore order to the innings as they added 67 runs for the fourth wicket before Samuels was caught on the boundary for a run-a-ball 48.
Now it was Ricardo Powell's turn to completely take over the game, as he smashed the Canadian offerings to all parts and finished unbeaten on 71 off 55 balls. He ended the game in style with two consecutive fours followed by a six.

Chasing 192 for victory, Smith hit 92 not out off 70 balls to carry Barbados to 194/2 off just 34.4 overs. Smith's innings contained 9 sixes and 3 fours of pure entertainment. The young right-hander added 100 runs with former West Indies batsman, Sherwin Campbell (62 off 93 balls).
Earlier in the day Guyana fell 191/9 from their 50 overs after Corey Collymore (2/38) and Pedro Collins (2/45) ripped through the top and middle order. Vasbert Drakes, Ryan Hurley and Ian Bradshaw each claimed a wicket. West Indies batsmen Sarwan (9) and Chanderpaul (16) didn't get going, as Lennox Cush top-scored with 46.
