ZONE A

Trinidad & Tobago VS. Canada

Brian Lara and Dinanath Ramnarine contributed in their specialist areas to lead Trinidad and Tobago to an easy 6-wicket win over Canada. Ramnarine lead the charge with 5/24 in assisting to knock the Canadians over for a mere 112 runs. Mervyn Dillon, Mohammed, Emrit and Modeste each took a wicket as well.

In the chase, T&T slumped to 57/3 before Lara strode to middle to replace captain Daren Ganga (16). He and Andy Jackson lifted the total to 108 before Jackson was bowled for 34. Lara stuck around to the end. The world number one started slowly and respectfully, but finished with two (2) fours and four (4) sixes to his credit and a stay of just 38 balls at the crease.

ZONE B

Guyana VS. UWI XI

Windies vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan found form for Guyana as they easily dealt with the UWI XI by 114 runs. Sarwan faced 121 balls and hit eight (8) fours in his 91-run innings. He and opener Chattergoon (54) put on 95 for the second wicket and he shared in an 86-run stand with captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul (47 off 39 balls with three [3] fours and a six). Guyana reached 258/6 in their 50 overs.

In reply, UWI lost wickets at 9, 10, 35, 68, 106, 125, 137, 139, 141 as they were all out for 144. Captain Philo Wallace had his stumps disturbed by Griffith for nought and, if not for Shawn Graham's 51, the end result may have been much worse for the University boys. The leg-spinning duo of Mahendra Nagamootoo and Sarwan then set in. The former grabbed 2/24 off his 6 overs and Sarwan bowled one ball short of 10 overs for 3/49.

Guyana - 258/6 (50 overs)
(Ramnaresh Sarwan 91, Sewnarine Chattergoon 54, Shiv Chanderpaul 47)
(Stanton Proverbs 3/44 [9], Jason Bennett 2/42 [10])
UWI XI - 144 ao (40.5 overs)
(Shawn Graham 51, Stanton Proverbs 20)
(Ramnaresh Sarwan 3/49 [9.5], Mahendra Nagamootoo 2/24 [6], Lennox Cush 2/5 [3])
