Dominic Cork took ten wickets as bottom-of-the-table Derbyshire thrashed Hampshire at The Rose Bowl. Hampshire were dismissed for 143 and 155, and therefore lost by an innings and 43 runs, after Derbyshire scored 341 in their first innings. Cork was supported by Graeme Welch who took 4-27 in the second innings. Hampshire did not look like coming close to making Derbyshire bat again, losing five wickets for 55, however an impressive stand of fifty between Chris Tremlett and Simon Katich revived hope. Katich finished on 48 not out and Tremlett scored 30. The victory means that Derbyshire have narrowed the gap between themselves and Hampshire, who are also struggling.

Ben Smith and Gareth Batty helped Worcestershire to victory against Yorkshire at Scarborough, chasing down runs in the final overs of the second day. Batty, who was included in the most recent Test squad, but was dropped on Wednesday, made 54 not out, while Smith scored an unbeaten 87. After dismissing Yorkshire for just 130 on the first day, Worcestershire replied with only 91. Craig White's half-century helped his side to post 278 to win in the morning, however Worcestershire did so for the loss of just five wickets.

In Cardiff, Glamorgan required just thirteen deliveries of the final day to secure victory against Durham. Chasing 86, the Welsh team finished the third day on 74-2, and Michael Powell and Adrian Dale wasted no time in clinching the eight-wicket victory. Michael Kasprowicz was the star of the show, taking 9-36 in the second innings, taking his season tally to 51, and recording the best Championship bowling figures of the season, and the second best in the county's history. The victory further enhances Glamorgan's push for promotion.
