Rampaul in Windies XI

Saturday, November 22 2003

Ravi Rampaul will make his international debut in the first ODI against Zimbabwe tomorrow at Bulawayo. The 19-year-old seamer was a surprise pick in the West Indies touring squad and will now get the opportunity to prove that he was a correct pick too.

Collymore and Edwards make way for the Trinidadian, with both being rested. Rampaul has played five (5) domestic OD matches to date, taking 10 wickets at 17.40 in that time with a SR of 24.6 and an economy of 4.24.

Other changes are Baugh Jr. coming in for Ridley Jacobs and Marlon Samuels and Ricardo Powell replacing Daren Ganga and Omari Banks from the second Test.

The XI is as follows:

Brian Lara (captain), Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell, Carlton Baugh Jr, Vasbert Drakes, Mervyn Dillon, Ravi Rampaul.
