NZ Squad for Pakistan

Friday, November 21 2003

The New Zealand selectors have announced a new look ODI-squad to tour Pakistan, with Kerry Walmsley, Craig Cumming, Tama Canning, Hamish Marshall and Matthew Walker receiving international calls.

For Walmsley, the unexpected recall gives him the opportunity to make an ODI debut following 3 Test matches between 1994 and 2001.

Marshall, meanwhile, has played 1 Test match and is without a Test batting average following his impressive unbeaten innings.

For Cumming, Canning and Walker, it marks their first selection in a full New Zealand squad - each of the three are likely to take part in the ODI series at some stage, with Cumming offering another option at the top of the order.

Chris Cairns will captain the side, which also includes a recalled Mathew Sinclair.

Out of the side from the TVS Cup in India are Chris Nevin, Craig McMillan, Scott Styris, Kyle Mills, Ian Butler, Stephen Fleming and Lou Vincent.
